Teacher Job Information
Teachers are responsible for preparing students for their future and careers, teaching various subjects and important life lessons. Educating classes of up to 35 students is a time-consuming task, and has teachers creating lesson plans outside of work hours as well as tracking student progress before presenting the child’s progress to parents. Teachers also work with school administrations to prepare students for standardised tests, such as GCSEs and A-Levels. This means teachers need good communication skills, a high level of patience, and the ability to control a classroom. There is an immeasurable need for educators who influence every generation, which means there are many types of teaching opportunities, ranging from special education, adult literacy, and teaching specific subjects.

Teacher Job Requirements
There is a drastic range of requirements for teacher careers depending on the age of children being taught. Nursery and Kindergarten teachers may only need GCSEs, but some employers may ask for specific training. When teaching at a secondary school, employers will require a degree (or equivalent) of 2:2 or above that relates to the subject candidates want to teach. To check potential teachers literacy and numeracy skills are up to scratch, they have to take a professional skills test in order to progress into becoming a teacher. Requirements may increase for headmasters, deans, and lecturers.

Teacher Job Market Trends
By 2026, the overall number of pupils is expected to grow by 11 per cent, which means there is a higher demand than ever for teachers in all schools to compete with the rising numbers. Unqualified teachers will usually earn a starting salary of £17,200 when teaching in kindergarten and primary school, whereas most qualified teachers will earn a mean salary of £29,400.
