Teachers are responsible for preparing students for their future and careers, teaching various subjects and important life lessons. Educating classes of up to 35 students is a time-consuming task, and has teachers creating lesson plans outside of work hours as well as tracking student progress before presenting the child’s progress to parents. There is a drastic range of requirements for teacher careers depending on the age of children being taught. Nursery and Kindergarten teachers may only need GCSEs, but some employers may ask for specific training. When teaching at a secondary school, employers will require a degree (or equivalent) of 2:2 or above that relates to the subject candidates want to teach. To check potential teachers literacy and numeracy skills are up to scratch, they have to take a professional skills test in order to progress into becoming a teacher. Requirements may increase for headmasters, deans, and lecturers.
