When teaching at a secondary school, employers will require a degree (or equivalent) of 2:2 or above that relates to the subject candidates want to teach. To check potential teachers literacy and numeracy skills are up to scratch, they have to take a professional skills test in order to progress into becoming a teacher. Requirements may increase for headmasters, deans, and lecturers.
