Warehouse Jobs Information
Warehouse staff focus on the storing and packaging of goods as well as the delivery of it. Warehouses are an important part of the UK supply chain, holding goods and equipment until they’re ready to be distributed to stores and supermarkets. Responsibilities include storing materials, picking, packing and scanning orders. The warehouse industry is one of the biggest in the UK and offers a multitude of jobs. This includes being a warehouse operative, picker packer, forklift driver, and shipping specialist. Day-to-day tasks usually involve a lot of physical strength and organisation. Warehouse staff may have to take deliveries, store them, clean the warehouse and move the stock by hand or even with machines such as forklift trucks. The roles have room for advancement depending on efficiency and experience.

Warehouse Jobs Requirement
Many employers may ask for a forklift certificate before candidates are able to use the forklift. There are no set academic requirements, but having GCSEs in English, Maths and IT are the sort of thing employers would be looking for. Warehouses are extremely fast-paced environments, meaning employees are expected to be able to multitask efficiently and are able to organise tasks and plan well. The ability to work quickly and safely are also highly desirable skills. Trustworthiness is a vital part of the job, as employees would be handling millions in valuable goods belonging to stores and customers.

Warehouse Jobs Market Trend
In the near future, robots are expected to take over a lot of mundane, repetitive tasks. The concept is still “in talks”, so the industry still requires the efficiency of hardworking staff. There are plenty of opportunities in the UK, with record numbers of people currently in work. Employees start with the average salary of £12,700 and can earn up to £27,000 with more time and experience.
