Birmingham 2022 are looking for an experienced Evaluations Manager, who will primarily be responsible for supporting the Games Evaluation process and act as the key point of contact for the evaluator and Games partners. As the role develops, there will be opportunities for the successful candidate to support other priority legacy projects.
One of the key outputs for measuring the long term success and impact of the Games is the Games Evaluation, a £1.3m extended monitoring and metrics programme to be carried out over a minimum of 18 months.
The Legacy Integration Team (LIT) is responsible for driving benefits to the city, the region and the UK as a result of hosting the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. To achieve this, the team operates in a cross-partner capacity; working closely with Legacy leads from the Organising Committee, West Midlands Combined Authority, Birmingham City Council and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
Work with key Games partners to implement project level evaluation mechanisms; ensuring consistency between projects, with the overarching Games Evaluation framework and the CGF's Games Value Framework.
Act as key point of contact for the main Games Evaluator and DCMS, supplying relevant and timely information from project level activity.
Communicate consistently with key partners to respond to emerging questions and challenges, as well as providing regular feedback and updates on central Evaluation progress.
Work with Key Games partners to assess and identify data and metrics generated by, and required from each partner and how this can be captured in the Games Evaluation. Establish and implement data sharing protocols and agreements between partners and other relevant third parties
Attend the Evaluation Working Group on behalf of the Legacy Integration Team. As appropriate, the Evaluation Lead will also attend other relevant governance meetings, likely to include the Coordinating and Steering Groups.
Liaise with Games partner Social Value teams, with particular focus on the Organising Committee to support the Evaluator in capturing all relevant legacy and benefits derived from the Games.
Maintain awareness of legacy and benefits activities being undertaken by non-key partners (e.g. Commonwealth Sports Foundation) and identify to relevant stakeholders to ensure appropriate inclusion in the Evaluation.
Skills and Experience Required
Significant experience in a similar role or a role where skills can be closely transferable.
Experience of stakeholder management and senior engagement;
Experienced in working in a fast-paced busy environment
Able to build effective working relationships with stakeholders from a range of organisations and levels of seniority;
Excellent written communication, relevant for both preparation of documents (e.g. reports, briefings) as well as sensitive email correspondences.
Analytical mindset with ability to translate detail into big picture thinking
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Experience and/or interest working in a major events environment.
Experience of delivering multi stakeholder evaluation projects.
