As England’s independent regulator of qualifications, examinations and assessments, Ofqual’s job is to maintain standards, to make sure that qualifications accurately reflect the knowledge and skills people have attained through a range of different learning methods.
We work with other Civil Service departments across the spectrum of education to deliver on our priorities and to ensure the best possible outcomes for learners in England.
Qualifications are a key measure of a world class education system. We are responsible for ensuring that qualifications and assessments are trusted and that standards are maintained.
Our role is vital in underpinning an effective, high quality system. We regulate qualifications in the context of Government policy and are currently operating in a particularly fast paced and challenging environment due to the impact of COVID. It’s an exciting time to join us!
The General Qualifications area provides assurance about the standards and quality of a range of high-profile qualifications including GCSEs and A levels, delivered by four exam boards.
Our programme of work focuses on the design and development of regulatory requirements for qualifications and the evaluation of the impact and efficiency of those requirements when put in to practice.
The Senior Officer role requires excellent analytical and communication skills and the ability to work flexibly in a complex and changing environment. Understanding of assessment practices, together with an understanding of regulatory practices, would be very helpful.
Ofqual is a rewarding, dynamic place to work. The team strongly encourages flexible working and personal learning & development.
Diversity& Inclusion is important to us. We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.
