Description Upstream Fiscal Analyst / Petroleum Economist
\nJob Description
\nGlobalData’s upstream fiscal analysis team helps our clients around the globe to assess
\ninvestment opportunities in the exploration and production sector. In one of our analyst-level
\nroles you will be responsible for building and maintaining our library of discounted cash flow
\nmodels and country reports to ensure that clients have the most up to date and accurate
\ninformation to guide their decision-making. Keeping abreast of tax and policy changes
\nworldwide, you will also author regular topical insight pieces and provide analysis directly to
\nclients. Working as part of our agile and dynamic team, you will quickly gain understanding
\nof the oil and gas sector across a wide variety of geographies, honing your modelling and
\nanalysis skills.
\nThe ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience working in a similar role, with a
\nbackground in economics, finance, politics or a related discipline, and a keen interest in
\nenergy policy.
Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:
\n• Research and track policy developments affecting the fiscal and regulatory terms
\ngoverning the upstream oil and gas sector
\n• Prepare and maintain detailed country-level fiscal and regulatory reports
\n• Build and maintain library of fiscal models
\n• Author topical insight pieces relating to the upstream fiscal and regulatory
\nenvironment
\n• Participate in ad-hoc consulting engagements and projects as required by the business
What We Look For Skills & Experience Required:
\n• 1-3 years of experience in the oil and gas sector
\n• Degree in economics, finance, politics or a related discipline
\n• Experience building discounted cash flow models
\n• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
\n• Previous exposure to and an understanding of upstream regulatory and fiscal systems
\n• Excellent writing skills, with the ability to express complex ideas in a concise manner
\n• Attention to detail and commitment to quality
\n• Effective oral communication skills to support client interactions
\nPreferred
\n• Existing research contacts within the oil and gas sector
\n• Relevant language skills, particularly French, Spanish, Portuguese or Russian
