Transamerica Life Bermuda Ltd (TLB) is incorporated in Bermuda and has branches which are registered and licensed in Hong Kong and Singapore. TLB, part of Aegon is hiring for this role to support TLB’s senior management with accurate and timely financial reporting, sound financial analysis and evaluation of profitability margins, effective KPI and management reporting, support of business development initiatives and development of financial staff.The key result indicators for this role are:• Coordinate and prepare timely and accurate financial reporting to TLB’s senior management and the Aegon Group & regional office.• Further develop financial team member capabilities;• Build effective relationships and communication with management in Hong Kong, Singapore and Bermuda• Build effective relationships and communication with US and NV Corporate, Investments, Tax, and Actuarial colleagues;• Develop / enhance the monthly and quarterly internal management reporting process;• Work effectively with actuarial colleagues to develop / enhance analytical capabilities for IFRS results, capital & investment, source-of-earnings analysis, and earnings planning and projection processes;• Lead the annual budget planning preparation and responsible for the submissions;• Assist as needed with local regulatory reporting (Hong Kong, Singapore, Bermuda), capital planning and analysis, and investment analysis;• Leading ad-hoc projects (e.g. IFRS, reporting process improvements). Primary Responsibilities Working closely with senior management in Hong Kong, Singapore and Bermuda to ensure producing timely and accurate internal and external financial reporting. Researches issues as required in order to provide information for business decisions being considered by management. Provides support and analysis to different business units to enhance growth and profitability. Coordinates and responsible for the Quarterly financial reporting Working with actuarial colleagues, develop effective analytics for business profitability Actively pursues quality improvements in monthly Management accounting reports. Takes full responsibility as a leader in preparing and executing the Budget and Medium Term Planning cycle. Establish sound Forecasting processes at TLB. Assists in system enhancement project and Sox audit. Req University Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant discipline. Five+ years of insurance industry accounting experience and good working knowledge of insurance industry accounting practices and requirements. Solid understanding of IFRS is needed. Minimum of 10 years related experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within accounting and/or finance department(s). Professional / Technical Competencies Knowledge: Thorough understanding of IFRS. Experience to manage annual budget and prepare management reports. University Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant discipline, with a working knowledge of accounting systems and well-developed financial analysis capabilities. Membership in a recognized professional accountancy body e.g. AICPA, HKICPA, ACCA, etc. Familiarity with the types of investment securities, risk/return concepts, and related accounting used for insurance portfolios. Experience in IFRS. Strong familiarity with actuarial concepts used for insurance pricing, capital, modeling, MCVNB, deferred acquisition costs, and valuation. Skills/Abilities:  Working knowledge of life insurance industry accounting practices and requirements. Solid understanding of IFRS or Management experience. Well versed with MS Office applications, experience with complex general ledger systems, and familiarity with data query tools and management reporting software. Analysis/Problem solving: identifies and understands issues, problems and opportunities; compares data from different sources to draw conclusions; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing alternatives based on logical assumptions, facts, available resources, constraints and company values. Planning and organizing: establishes clear quantifiable and realistic objectives for achievement in a given time period. Works with others in the formulation of their plans.
