Battery technology engineer to lead assigned battery technology projects and assigned work streams within projects in early-stage product development of new NC devices.

The role is responsible for supporting the delivery of an assigned portfolio of projects and activities within the NC product development plan.

Number of projects:

Leading 2-4 medium to high complexity early-stage product development projects


Lead battery development and qualification activities within NC R&D
Support strong teamwork and relationships with a pool of third party external suppliers and internal functions
Support the Engineering Manager of Device Engineering


Responsible for setting up battery safety standards and reviews.
Investigate the battery cell design, chemistries and manufacturing technologies.
Lead the assigned early-stage product development and prototyping projects based on an agreed plan to include consumer preferences, NC strategy, consumer safety and regulatory compliance requirements through the application of robust project methodology and sound technical and scientific methods
Support the Engineering Manager where required
Support the development of devices based on a clear scientific understanding of the base technology and its potential to support positive consumer experience.


Ensure on time and in full delivery of device specifications for new product and/or product modifications
Escalate risks and issues in a timely and appropriate manner

Manage projects in accordance with appropriate project management practices

Knowledge & Skills

Preferably PhD in battery chemistries
Comprehensive knowledge and experience of design and evaluation of battery technologies
Experience of managing activities in a rapid prototyping team
Planning and implementation skills
Experience of supporting a portfolio of projects in an engineering focused role
Comprehensive understanding of battery industry and battery manufacturing processGood Interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence key stakeholders.
