Big Data Technology Lead Location: London or Newbury (Full-time remote working during COVID-19) Salary: Excellent Package Hours: 37.5 Join Vodafone UK Big Data and work with sophisticated technologies, turning unstructured data into something pragmatic, to solve real-world problems. You will work with cutting edge technology and work on the most interesting business and optimisation challenges. This is a high profile role where you will support the Finance, Commercial and Networks teams by building applications that make use of large volumes of data to generate outputs, allowing commercial actions that generate incremental value for Vodafone What will you be doing? Lead the Big Data Engineer and Data Assurance Teams (circa 15 reports) to design and implement core platform capabilities, tools, processes, ways of working under agile development to support the integration of raw data sources and machine learning model automation Design and produce high performing stable end-to-end applications to perform complex processing of batch and streaming massive volumes of data in a platform in cloud, and output insights back to business systems according to their requirements. Support the data engineering team, including technical guidance and training in the Cloud Analytics frameworks and ways of working, revision and integration of source code, support to releasing and source code quality control Work with the Group architecture team to define the strategy for evolving the Cloud Analytics capabilities, including solution architectural decisions aligned with the platform architecture. Define the technologies to be used on Cloud Analytics and investigating new technologies to identify where they can bring benefits Who are we looking for? Strong experience in software engineering, including coding design patterns and algorithms, preferably with knowledge in at least 1 programming language (Java, Scala, Python) Experience working in large-scale multi tenancy big data environments. Proven experience of leading technical teams. Sound level experience in design, develop, test, deploy, debug, fine-tune and optimise enterprise applications to process large amounts of data in a distributed compute platform (Hadoop ecosystem or other big data frameworks) Knowledge in building systems to perform real-time data processing using Apache Beam, Spark Streaming, Kafka, Kinesis, and similar data streaming and processing frameworks. Google Cloud Platform knowledge, in big data and analytics services, and related open source technologies, other cloud providers desirable (AWS, Azure). What's in it for you?
