Contract type Permanent Salary £36,798 Grade B Number of open roles 1 Description Business Manager Closing date: 26th January We have an exciting permanent opportunity here at MoJ Digital & Technology for a Business Manager based in our London Technology Services team. This role reports to the Director of Technology Services, who has responsibility for the design, implementation and maintenance of technology services which enable the 76,000 MoJ staff to effectively and efficiently play their part in delivering a world-class justice system. The Technology Team also deliver and support an increasing number of services enabling the Justice system to evolve with the use of technical innovation. Digital & Technology is responsible for all infrastructure, end user computing, onsite support and delivery of technology projects. Key Responsibilities • Have responsibility for the running of the office of the Director of Technology, including management of a small team. Ensuring that the Director's time is best used and focused on their priorities. • Identify actions or communications that require immediate action. Proactively gathering input from relevant team members and asking for help where required. • Commission, oversee and edit briefings and submissions for the Director, liaising with other teams where necessary and ensuring these enable priorities as set out in the D&T strategy to be met. • Be accessible to, and collaborative with a wide range of people and organisations within Digital and Technology, across the wider MoJ, and from external parties such as our suppliers. • Deliver specific projects to support the transformation of Technology Services such as the onboarding of new starters within the Technology Services team. • Collate analyse and report key performance indicators ensuring delivery against the strategy and business plan If this sounds like an exciting challenge and you want to join our team please read on and apply! This is a MoJ Band B role with a salary of £36,798 (for external applicants coming into the Civil Service, internal civil servant applications are subject to MOJ pay principles) plus great benefits: • 37 hours/week and flexible working options - working from home or remotely, working part-time, job sharing, or working compressed hours. • Lots of training and development opportunities with learning platforms such as: Linux Academy, O'Reilly, Pluralsight, Microsoft Learning, Civil Service Learning, GDS Academy, etc. • 10% dedicated time to learning and development with a budget of £1000 a year per person • Generous civil service pension based on defined benefit scheme, with employer contributions of 26-30% depending on salary. • 25 days leave (plus bank holidays) and 1 privilege day usually taken around the Queens' birthday. 5 additional days of leave once you have reached 5 years of service. • Great maternity, adoption, and shared parental leave, with up to 26 weeks leave at full pay, 13 weeks with partial pay, and 13 weeks further leave. Person Specification Essential • Working in a fast-paced Director or Deputy Director private office either in government or a large, high profile organisation, or working in an unpredictable environment requiring difficult decisions at pace. • Management of a small team, ensuring balanced workload and ongoing support and development. • Producing accurate insights and recommendations on a broad range of topics and providing recommendations based on evidence available. • Strong communication and engagement skills, with a good ability to persuade and influence others at various levels of an organisation. • Highly organised and able to juggle competing priorities, often to tight timescales • Delivery of projects with multiple stakeholders to meet ambitious timelines.
