The role

The holder of this role is responsible for the delivery of direct communications support to VolkerStevin in Preston, and also for the provision of communications support to the Head of Corporate Communications and Corporate Communications Manager for VolkerWessels UK.

The role involves the management of multiple projects with key stakeholders to produce a variety of deliverables across the full communications mix.

The Corporate Communications Business Partner is also responsible for the line management of a Corporate Communications Coordinator

The Corporate Communications Business Partner is a self-motivated and driven individual, who can work proactively and unsupervised, and who delivers continuous improvement.

The role is based in Preston with travel to other offices, sites and locations across the country as required.

Key accountabilities

The Corporate Communications Business Partner is responsible for the following, and also for other activities as required by the local business unit or line manager.

Communications planning
Work with the relevant business leaders to establish the requirements of the business unit, and produce and annual communications plan or strategy, along with individual subject, campaign or project specific plans as required

Corporate literature:
Project management of the production of internal and external company literature, including newsletters, brochures, presentations, and posters

External communications:
Deliver media activity in line with the requirements of the business unit, linking to publications' forward features lists as appropriate
Draft and issue well-written and effective press releases and case studies.
Develop relationships with key media contacts as appropriate
Assist with aspects of the production of award entries - to include sourcing imagery, editing content and uploading as required by the business.

Social media:
Compose and send updates on the company's social media channels
Identify opportunities to raise the social media profile of the business
Provide support to local and VolkerWessels UK social media accounts

Update relevant company website(s), as required, including the inclusion of all new press releases and case studies
Conduct regular reviews of relevant website(s) to ensure content is fresh and relevant
Liaise with operating companies to identify required changes to the website(s)
Liaise with web developer to arrange website amends and updates
Project management for the production of new websites, as required

Internal communications
Draft and upload internal news stories to the intranet to inform and engage employees with business unit news and campaigns
Production of local newsletter to agreed schedule
Deliver internal communications campaigns and messaging via other channels - e.g. emails, posters, presentations
Support Corporate Communications Manager with company-wide internal communications campaigns as required

Photography and videography:
Identify and manage photographic and video opportunities
Produce photography and video briefings
Liaise with internal stakeholders and photographers to arrange photo shoots

Event management:
Coordinate the delivery of internal business unit staff and leadership events
Support Corporate Communications Manager and Head of Corporate Communications with the organisation and delivery of internal events as required

Branding and design:
Responsible for managing the design of all internal and external communications materials
Ensure all materials are consistent and compliant with the brand guidelines

Line management:
Manage and delegate the workload of the Corporate Communications Executive and Corporate Communications Coordinator for VolkerLaser
Help mentor, advise and develop the business unit communications team members, including delivery of DPR
Responsible for line management administration - e.g. annual leave and expenses approvalSkills & experience

Required qualifications / expertise:

Educated to degree level in Marketing, Communications, Media, Journalism or an equivalent related qualification i.e. CIM (or working towards qualification), or have relevant previous experience.

Key competencies required:

Excellent written English (grammar, spelling and punctuation).
IT skills (Microsoft Office)
Experience in working in a communications or marketing department
Experience of working with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop / InDesign)
Experience with online content management systems.
