Raytheon Professional Services is looking for a dynamic, driven and inspiring Course Design Manager to lead the delivery of a major and strategically important contract for major training support services into the Royal Navy.

The Course Design Manager is responsible for managing all program aspects of Course Design and Development including: implementation, budget, schedule, deliverables, customer interface, and related activities of the Design and Development staff in the Portsmouth office.

Main Duties:

Overseeing and coordinating the operational aspects of learning solutions to include the design and content of curriculum development projects.

Serves as a liaison between project management, planning, project team(s) and line management.

Assessing project issues and developing resolutions to meet productivity, quality and client satisfaction goals and objectives.

Monitoring project progress, interventions and problem solving with project managers, line managers and clients.

Client interface, development, planning and integration of activities across customer sites, project strategy, resource and staffing plans, team leadership, schedule management, performance assessment and project control.

Managing workflow and ensure compliance with Raytheon policies and procedures

Participate in industry seminars and discussion groups as a representative of Raytheon to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and developments. This includes developing and presenting White Papers.

Interact with internal development teams

Research latest emerging technologies and learning practices

Create and manage project plans to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements

Candidate Requirements:


Demonstrated advanced experience in overall instructional design with advanced levels of proficiency in the following:

Designing learning solutions and leading development activities across a variety of media modalities including eLearning, VCT, ILT, Micro-learning and video

Communication skills, both oral and written

Presentation skills

Interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong relationships with customers and co-workers

Consulting skills

Managing and supervising teams

Tactical planning and critical thinking

Utilizing a system level approach including integration and leverage of resources

* Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Project

* Organization skills

* Working with:

* Blended learning programs

* Relational data bases

* Systems theory

* Learning Management Systems (LMS)


* Deming, ISO, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, TQM

* Ability to travel up to 25% of the time .

* Eligible for or holder of SC security clearance and willing to Undertake DV level Security clearance (Raytheon will Sponsor)

* Valid driving licence


* Critical and conceptual thinking skills

* Demonstrated experience of working within the ADDIE process

Required Education:

* Demonstrate qualification or practical experience in Instructional Systems Design, Adult Education and Training or related area.

* University degree or equivalent experience
