Job Description New Directions Education Wirral are looking to recruit a Cover Supervisor for a large Secondary School Based on the Wirral. The School has a caring and supporting ethos along with a highly skilled and experienced senior management team in place in order to assist and develop staff to the highest of standards. This position will be on on an ongoing basis Monday to Friday. As a Cover Supervisor you will need to be flexible and adaptable to the ever changing daily routine of the School needs and requirements. The role of a Cover Supervisor is ideal for those candidates who have an interest in developing a career in Teaching the role gives a great insight to the day to day role of a Teacher. To be considered for this role you will need to be degree educated with some experience of working with Children or adults in a supervisory role. Job Specification Working as a Cover Supervisor can be a very rewarding but very demanding role. Schools may wish to employ staff for cover supervision but on occasions where they are not needed for cover, they might also be released to provide additional support to Teachers in classrooms, or to carry out administrative tasks. Ideally, candidates will be required to: Develop curricular knowledge in line with the school requirements Apply the school’s behaviour management policy and report any difficulties to the class Teacher/senior leadership team Set homework in line with the classroom Teacher requirements Provide homework under the guidance of the class Teacher Administer class tests if requested Supervise the work of the Teaching Assistant, providing support if required Abide by and work towards all policies within the school, eg – behaviour management, health and safety, equal opportunities Carry out pre-prepared exercises in the short term absence of the class Teacher Ensure students remain on task through classroom management You will not be required to plan lessons, but will have the opportunity to lead the class Assisting students where required and ensuring lessons are delivered Collect completed work and pass to the class teacher.
