Cryogenic Physicist

Cryogenic Physicist Role: Low Temperature Physicist / Magnetics Physicist sought by an international leader in Cryogenic, Superconductivity / SQUID and Magnetic Resonance technology based Instrumentation. Working on High Field Measurement Systems investigating properties such as Specific Heat, Thermal Conductivity, VSM (Vibration Sample Magnetometry), Hall Effect, Resistivity and Thermo Electric Power you will participate across all aspects of project delivery, from product development, equipment build and system test, through to applications engineering inclusive of sample analysis and system installation. Product development to sub micro Kelvin can include working on vacuum technology, liquid helium cooling, design down to component level using computer based design tools such as LabView and Inventor. Although not a major aspect of the role, in addition to undertaking experimental physics work, as a practical person you will be comfortable reading circuit / wiring diagrams, using a soldering iron / hand tools and even welding (TIG). Training will be provided where appropriate. PhD in Physics ideally experimental / practical based in Cryogenic technology coupled with 1 year+ application of PhD, with an academic track record from a high calibre university with high achievement in science based 'A' Levels or International Baccalaureate standard qualifications. Candidates recently qualified to degree level in Physics, Materials Science & Electronic Eng maybe considered for a junior/trainee position if academic achievement is outstanding. Salary is dependent on level of experience in Cryogenic / Low Temperature Physics ranging from low 20k's for a junior trainee to 35,000 for an experienced research specialist.
