Position Overview: Job design lead will be responsible for creating and executing the design strategy for the brand's new footwear category. The focus will be the creation & building out of the design language and the DNA for the category, as well as creating process that drives creativity. The role will be responsible for the aesthetic of the category and how it shows up to the consumer through creative direction. This entrepreneurial role will also involve cross functional leadership within the business with direct links to outerwear design and innovation. Key Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities: Design Lead and develop the design language & DNA for the category across both mens and womens footwear Lead and create a seasonal process calendar that drives clarity around footwear timelines that compliment the outerwear category which in turn helps drive consumer clarity Ideate alongside footwear GM, relevant concepts and opportunities for the footwear category, driven by insight Own the creative direction for the category, working in conjunction with key stakeholders within the wider creative team. Build relevant color and materials research & execution strategy Responsible for leadership & execution of footwear briefs from concept through to final sample sign off, working with key partners within the business. Help build the footwear infrastructure at CG that is aspirational and best in class amongst the footwear universe Development Own the footwear development strategy to include but not limited to fit, functional execution, material execution, and standard shoemaking procedures. Leverage CG cross functional departments to help drive synergy Build relationships with key partners (factory and suppliers) to ensure best in class function, fit and comfort Work with material suppliers to build out a strategy that creates a portfolio of luxury and sustainable material and component options in line with our brand positioning. Build out and lead the development process calendar that drives clarity to the business and enables planning around launches and drops. Experience, Education and Designations: Degree or above in Footwear or Industrial Design is a must 5-10 years of working experience within a Global footwear design leadership role across mens and womens product Knowledge of European shoe making factories Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven sketch and illustration skills Computer Skill; included proficiency in Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator is essential. Demonstrated ability to take initiative to achieve departmental and corporate objectives. Knowledge of footwear constructions and development a must Excellent presentation skills of both design and final presentation. Ability to work as a team and maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion. Global understanding of the future markets and competitive brand positioning Knowledge, Skills and Attributes: Leadership Build networks across the brand and different functions of the business, and partner with key design stakeholders to ensure synergy across category Identify and build a pipeline of internal and external talent that can help deliver against the long term CG footwear strategy, Be the voice of footwear design for the brand, educating the business on the category and helping to solidify within the business Lead and inspire their team to ensure a healthy, positive environment. Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegate's responsibility and expectations for accountability through regular feedback. Design Capacity: Design leadership experience across different product types and genders Has a very clear understanding of brand DNA / Heritage and embraces a modern iconic sensibility. An unquestioning sense of curiosity that pushes the boundaries of Canada Goose. Able to build on a foundation and identify growth strategies. Knows the consumer.
