Forbes' London bureau is seeking a recent graduate journalist to join the Forbes Europe newsroom as an Editorial Assistant to the Editor. Europe is one of the fastest-growing divisions in the company and this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, digital-first team based in London. This intern position will be paid above the London Living Wage rate. The successful applicant will work closely with the Editor and be exposed to all aspects of a fast-paced, digital first newsroom. Our interns have written dozens of posts and contributed to some of our biggest flagship lists, including the Forbes Under 30 Europe list. You will receive support and mentorship to meet professional goals, accelerate your learning and hone your writing and storytelling skills, completing the programme with a portfolio to be proud of. About You Our internships are our funnel to begin careers within journalism. Many of our interns have transitioned to full-time roles within our newsroom. We are looking for rising journalists who embody the Forbes entrepreneurial spirit to innovate, identify new opportunities and who are passionate about learning. Responsibilities: * Support the Editor in day-to-day operations of the bureau * Assist with internal and external events including television and radio engagements * Pitch, report and write stories * Conduct research related to list rankings (contact sources, gather documents and data, write short profiles) * Forward plan news and features to support growth of Forbes' audience across Europe * Fact-check longer term features * Research emerging trends, prospective contributors and attend industry events * Collaborate with Forbes staffers on special projects as needed Requirements: * Journalism degree or equivalent, OR previous journalism internship * Prior experience in reporting, writing and editing * Experience with publishing platforms, current digital and social media technologies and Google Drive * Willingness to learn and adaptability to a face-paced bureau * Cultural awareness and appreciation for serving a diverse audience * Interest in business/entrepreneurship and understanding of basic financial terms/figures * Ability to use multiple resources and analyze documents during research * Strong written and oral communication skills * Ability to multitask and meet deadlines * European language skills are a plus * Solid news judgment with understanding of journalistic standards and editorial ethics About Our Intern Programme (UK) * Our internship programmes are paid above the London Living wage. * This internship is approximately 40 hours/week Monday-Friday. * The role will begin on or around January 27, 2020* and will last for up to 6 months on a fixed term contract. * You will be working out of our European headquarters in Soho, London.
