Head of HR, Northern Europe and Middle East


Based in London, this role will be responsible for providing a generalist HR service across the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Nordics region and the UAE. It will be responsible for day-to-day operations of both retail teams and the Head Office population for EMEA region. This position will be key in embedding Jimmy Choo culture, values, policies and procedures in the region in a legally compliant manner while supporting line managers to drive team performance. This is a true generalist HR role.

The position will have a large measure of autonomy, directly managing two HR Managers (based in the Paris and London office), one HR Advisor based in Dubai as well as working in partnership with the Payroll and Benefits Manager for EMEA, also based in London.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Partner with and advise line managers on all aspects of the people management cycle, including recruitment, induction, attendance, retention, employee relations
  • Partner with line managers to ensure that all business units in the region are fully compliant with HR, legal and company requirements
  • Act as a business partner, diagnosing issues, identifying needs and providing creative, commercial solutions in line with business objectives
  • Identify and assess HR issues which need to be brought to the attention of the rest of the HR team, and act upon them as necessary
  • Take a proactive role in suggesting ideas and creating new procedures to ensure the continued improvement and development of the HR function, increasing its value to the business
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships both internally and externally in order to support the needs of the business
  • Ensure line managers in the region understand, communicate and adhere to HR policies and procedures
  • Lead, motivate, inspire and develop direct reports while providing an excellent example to the rest of the HR team and the wider organisation
  • Work with line managers to recruit, train, and develop staff ensuring all positions are filled in a timely manner with qualified and appropriate employees
  • Develop and deliver training sessions to line managers as required
  • Ensure all employee relations issues are dealt with in an effective manner, partnering with line managers when necessary. This includes conducting disciplinary meetings, termination meetings, reporting work accidents, supporting local HR representatives in dealing with Employee and Union Representatives and Health & Safety Councils
  • Provide reliable and trusted employment law advice. Liaise with Employment Lawyers across the region where appropriate and within budget.
  • Provide advice on immigration and visa queries
  • Support the Director of HR - Global and work with the Global HR team to undertake a variety of HR projects as required including research, proposals, negotiation, implementation and monitoring of initiatives
  • Responsible for providing weekly, monthly and ad hoc reporting as required by Head Office.
  • Monitor the legal and business environment across the region to keep processes and practices relevant and up to date
  • Work collaboratively with the wider HR team both in the region and globally, to ensure consistency across the business
  • Act as company representative for any Work Inspection, Union or Worker representative issues if required.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Graduate calibre
  • CIPD qualified
  • Proven managerial HR experience within a fast-paced retail commercial environment
  • Luxury Retail experience desirable
  • Previous exposure to European employment law and operations within the UAE or wider Middle East
  • Some knowledge of payroll would be an advantage
  • Extensive recruitment and selection experience
  • Extensive Employee Relations experience
  • Previous line management experience with the proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a team
  • Highly competent user of MS Office packages, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to incorporate regular operational tasks into day to day workload
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, oral and written
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to build creative solutions
  • Confident team player with excellent emotional intelligence
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, being flexible in approach to meet the requirements of the business and handle daily time-management challenges
