Health and Safety Manager Location: Telford, TF1 6HD Salary: £35 - 40k pro rata, DOE plus benefits, after probation period Contract: Part time, Permanent Hours: Up to 24 hours per week, On site Due to continued growth, PelGar International Ltd is now recruiting for a Health and Safety Manager to work at their Telford Production site. About the Company: The primary role of the Health & Safety Manager is to advise the Managing Director, Group Health, Safety & Environmental Manager, and all other staff, on all safety, health and welfare matters to ensure the Company complies with its statutory obligations at the Telford Production site. The Health & Safety Manager is designated responsibility by the Managing Director, responsible for health and safety, to control and update the Company Health and Safety Manual and to ensure that all Departments operate to the procedures and instructions contained therein. Health and Safety Manager - About the role The role will encompass the Implementation, maintenance and auditing of the company Quality Management Systems (QMS). Main Responsibilities and Duties: Understand the application of the Health and Safety at Work, etc. Act 1974 and other legislation relevant to the Company’s business. To establish and maintain a Health and Safety manual in conjunction with the Group H&S Manager. To liaise and work with the Group HS&E Manager to compile polices applicable to all sites. Keep up to date with changes in current legislation and to bring to the attention of the Managing Director and any others responsible for Health and Safety any relevant new legislation. Attend such courses/seminars run by external sources to enable accurate interpretation of legislation to enable implementation within the organisation. Ensure that all "assessments" as required by legislation are conducted and reviewed at relevant intervals and to maintain records of the same. To recommend control measures and advise on the standard of P.P.E. issued to employees. Conduct health and safety inspections and prepare reports of all Company operations. Immediately inform the relevant Manager if situations are found, that in the opinion of the Health & Safety Manager, require immediate rectification or the stopping of any operation. To notify the relevant Manager if the corrective action agreed after any workplace inspection is not implemented by the arranged date. To carry out investigations into all accidents and near-miss incidents and to record the findings on the relevant forms. Advise the Managing Director of all incidents reportable under RIDDOR. To arrange Health surveillance monitoring and associated activities; ensuring all recommendations are acted upon and communicated. To highlight areas where training/certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or HSE guidance. To conduct or arrange training for employees on safety issues. To bring new techniques for improving health, safety, and welfare to the attention of the Group HS&E Manager Facilitate, plan, and manage the health and safety implications involved in all movement of production equipment with appointed contractors working with relevant departmental Managers. Manage routine maintenance and repairs of all FLTs operated at Telford in accordance with their leases. Selection of contractors for H&S related tasks and ensure all contractors have submitted sufficient RAMs as required. Coordinate and obtain authority to dispose of waste alongside the strategy defined by the Group HS&E Manager in the Environmental policy, obtaining value for money Health and Safety Manager - Candidate Skills and Experience: The ideal candidate will be able to draw on their experience to implement practical and pragmatic solutions in an evolving workplace. This person will be able to propose strategic H&S plans to support the growth of the company as well as ensuring H&S compliance on a daily basis. NEBOSH Diploma qualified, At least 2 years post qualification experience, Able to communicate effectively at all levels of an organisation, Determined, with the ability to see a project through to the end.
