Role Overview: Working closely with the UK CEO, Chief Product & Technology Officer and Finder Engineering leadership teams, you are the people-leader responsible for the flawless execution and delivery of new technology, components, capabilities and products built by your team to grow Finder’s FinTech Strategy. You will be responsible for the productivity, professional development, wellbeing and fulfilment of the colleagues in your team.  You are a living embodiment of finder’s values and an exemplar of servant leadership capable of utilising several styles of leadership (e.g. pace-setting, collaboration, consensus-driven, directive, coaching, inspiring and mentoring).  You drive bias for action in your team, showing that their work spearheads the growth of the commercial interests of the company. You will work closely with other Engineering Leads, Principal Engineers, People & Culture staff, Product Managers and the CPTO in order to achieve this.  You excel at the delivery of an engineering-lead, commercially focussed outcome from inception through to delivery including deployment and successful operation in a production environment. You are an inspiration and mentor, actively working to enable those who seek to live and work across the technology stack - top to bottom, from the user interface through the messaging, service and data tiers as well as monitoring, working with and tuning the deployment in production if required.  The expectations for the success of this role are very high, and the influence of an engineering lead must be felt deeply within your team, as well as across finder Engineering and finder global. You are responsible for the development of your team and a large measure of your success will be in how your staff feel about you as their leader, and the output of your team rather than you individually. This responsibility will also come with great rewards, experience, coaching, mentoring and support to achieve success.  As an Engineering Lead, you will empower your staff and work with all teams to champion the delivery of a quality that is high. In your role, it is essential that you have an understanding of the broader context of software engineering and product development strategy at finder, including the intersection of technical, business and customer-facing factors that carve the way to your work being successful. Main Responsibilities: The following is a list of the type of work you will perform: People leadership and performance management of the staff in the team  Regular reviews, coaching, mentoring to develop the staff in the team Position/Job/Role description clarification, candidate selection, interviewing and hiring Ensuring team delivery and results focus while embodying finder engineering principles and execution Working with Engineering Leaders to drive strategic goals to improve technical direction. Embody, demonstrate and reinforce our company values. Quality and timely delivery of deliverables along with coordination with other teams.  Identifying and championing and improving processes and workflows at finder Championing software engineering principles to deliver a better experience for our users and an engaging technology-led engineering environment.  Problem-solving skills and the ability to create solutions Ability to manage risk, escalate where appropriate and to deliver options and improvements to other people leaders at finder. Essential Requirements of the Role: Demonstrable leadership with a cross-disciplinary delivery team including Software Engineers, Product Managers and Designers  Experience with teams, team members and stakeholders working in different timezones. 10+ years experience in software engineering (or equivalent)  2+ years leadership (or equivalent) Software and Systems Architecture and solution design. Thought and/or people leadership.  Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment and Continuous Delivery practices.  Great communication Nice to have Demonstrable security, regulation, compliance and auditing expertise. DevOps and networking experience, including monitoring, alerting and support.  Experience with message queues, event processing and event sourcing Effective branching and merging techniques such as GitFlow and Trunk-Based Development High performance, low latency computing  Financial Regulation in Australia, the USA and/or Europe.  Security concepts and certification experience including SOC-2, PCI or ISO27001 An understanding of financial services comparison. An understanding of personal finance managers (PFM). An understanding of credit reports and credit scores. An understanding of open banking and open finance. An understanding of financial services compliance and regulation requirements. Finder has a passionate start-up culture and working environment (think experiments and great coffee).
