Two locum CONSULTANT CARDIOLOGIST appointments based at Newham University Hospital Consultant Cardiologist with an interest in heart failure Consultant Cardiologist with an interest in heart failure, inherited cardiac conditions, or cardiac imaging Barts Health NHS Trust invites applications to join the Cardiology team at Newham University Hospital (NUH) as a Locum Consultant Cardiologist with an interest in heart failure, inherited cardiac conditions (ICC), or cardiac imaging. These 12-month fixed term, 10 PA, appointments are to support the implementation of a consultant of the week model of inpatient care, to increase local expertise in heart failure, ICC, and/or imaging, and to reduce outpatient waiting times. There may be the opportunity to undertake sessions at Barts Heart Centre, the regional network hub, depending on the candidate’s field of interest. NUH provides secondary care services for a diverse population of 330,000 in East London. Newham has high rates of premature cardiovascular morbidity and mortality which is related to its ethic mix, and high rates of socioeconomic deprivation and diabetes mellitus. NUH forms an important part of the regional postgraduate training programmes for hospital-based doctors and receives undergraduate students from Barts and The London School of Medicine & Dentistry. The cardiology department is a great place to work. It is expected that candidates will be fully trained in general cardiology and in their subspecialty area. Applicants should possess the MRCP or equivalent, be GMC-registered with a license to practice, and be on the specialist register for cardiology or within six months of specialist registration.
