Closing Date - 18/12/2020 The Media Relations Manager will devise and oversee the press and PR plan, to help promote Festival UK* 2022 locally, nationally and internationally, and complement audience development objective for the ten distinct festival projects to reach 66 million people. This exciting role will take account of the UK-wide nature of the festival, the four nations that are involved, and the five components of STEAM.

Responsibilities

Oversee the development of a comprehensive press & PR plan for Festival UK* 2022.
Devise press materials, including news releases, which encompass and interpret a wide range of information and activity arising from festival projects, working with festival producers and commissioned teams.
Create compelling narratives and storytelling that reflect the ambition, range and diversity of the festival across STEAM and relevant to different audiences, locally, nationally and internationally.
Work closely with the Strategic Communications Manager and marketing team to ensure press and PR activity coordinates and aligns with other external facing communications activity.
Work closely with the Strategic Delivery Bodies and Creative Teams on press and PR activity.
Work with the Communications Director to manage external agencies.
Work with festival producers and commissioned teams to develop and implement campaigns that reach beyond obvious audiences and reflect and maximise the cross-cutting ambition of STEAM.
Help identify potential media partnerships.
Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of media coverage.
Skills and Experience Required

Essential

Substantial experience of devising and implementing successful press & PR campaigns at a national level
Excellent writing skills and substantial experience of composing engaging copy for different platforms and audiences.
Procurement and management of external agencies.
Line management experience.
Good national media contacts.
Budget management.
Experience of working to engage local people and communities.
Experience of media monitoring and evaluation.
Desirable

Recognised PR, marketing qualification, or journalism experience.
Experience of international media relations.
Experience of media partnerships.
