We have a super opportunity for a confident and methodical Production Manager to take charge of day to day production and related administration duties at our Lytag factory, at Drax power station, near York. You will have a proven track record managing or supervising in a production capacity, be a natural motivator with a can-do attitude and ready to take on your next challenge at our state of the art, multi-million pound factory.
About the role
Lytag was first manufactured in 1958 following a research project to develop a lightweight aggregate from power station fly ash. In 2013, a new, state of the art multi-million pound factory at Drax power station near York was built. The process transforms fly ash into small, round, very tough pellets. These can be used as a superior lightweight aggregate which is up to 50% lighter than its natural counterpart and has been used in many unique applications across the UK most notably to build some of the dramatic London skyline including the Shard.
Reporting to the Factory Manager, you will supervise two production shifts and the site loading operation to ensure maximum production and logistics efficiency. Optimising production and maintaining high safety standards will be your top priority.
Other elements to the role include:
Role modeling safety excellence, high engineering standards as well as contributing to, preparing and developing safe practices (including repair procedures).
Assisting the Factory Manager and deputising in their absence
Analysing OPI’s, sales information, sales forecasts and production trends in conjunction with plant performance and settings to identify baseline performance and product splits.
Collecting and compiling production data and reviewing site KPI’s. Verifying monthly production volumes at month end at the product level and adjusting production schedules as required.
Ensuring all site operations achieve compliance with the Company’s Health & Safety; Environmental and Quality policy and standards. Implementing site specific rules and ensuring that all activities under your control are conducted within the requirements of current legislation.
Ensuring key government health & safety legislation is implemented throughout the site
Effective utilisation of all plant, equipment and facilities to ensure optimum runtime equipment efficiency and that production targets are achieved within the timescales and cost restraints as set by the Area Operations Manager in order to meet customer demand
Liaising with commercial and distribution teams in the event of material shortages or regarding any other reason for interruption to customers’ support requirements
Ensuring that staff are managed effectively by following HR requirements such as dialogue, job review, performance and absence management; maintain good industrial relations with staff; show demonstrable commitment, leadership and integrity
Driving quality compliance (by both assurance and control) and improvement. Being responsible for product root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Running Company systems thoroughly and effectively and supporting IMS audits.
