Research Assistant; Oxford Cogntive Approaches to Psychiatry (O-CAP)
Grade 6: £29,176 - £34,804 p.a. We wish to appoint a Research Assistant to the Oxford Cognitive Approaches to Psychosis (O-CAP) group based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital. O-CAP is a clinical psychology research group comprising over twenty researchers. You will work on a number of studies being conducted by the team, with a focus on clinical trials testing novel psychological treatments delivered using virtual reality. The supervisors will be Prof Daniel Freeman and Dr Felicity Waite.
This post is for a fixed-term (12 months from September 2020).
You will join the gameChange project. This is an exciting programme of research which aims to transform the lives of patients with psychosis by putting powerful automated virtual reality (VR) psychological treatment into NHS mental health services. A key role will be recruiting patients to the trials and carrying out assessments. Experience will be gained of NHS Services and a wide range of assessment measures, including structured interviews, questionnaires, and experimental tasks. The post will provide excellent experience of clinically relevant research and would suit a person interested in going on to either clinical psychology training or further research.
With a psychology degree (2:1 or above), you will have an interest in the psychological understanding and treatment of psychosis. Participants will be seen in clinic settings or at home across a large geographical area comprising three NHS trusts. This means there will be extensive travel which would be facilitated by having valid driving licence, and access to own or other independent means of transport.
You will be required to upload a CV, supporting statement and details of two referees as part of your application.
The closing date for this post is 12.00 noon on 14 August 2020. Interviews will be held week commencing 24 August 2020.
