Aggregate Industries a leading manufacturer and supplier of concrete and aggregate products are recruiting for a Risk and Assurance Specialist to hold responsibility for the performance of ‘internal audits’ across business operations and functions.

About the role

As the ‘Internal Control’ specialist you will provide advice and assistance to the business around the LafargeHolcim Internal Controls Framework and test control in accordance with Group requirements. Additional functions include investigating alleged fraudulent and criminal behaviour, identifying value adding opportunities and special projects as determined by the ExCo. This department reports into the Chief Financial Officer.

Other elements of the role include:

Performing audits of operating units in accordance with the annual risk and assurance review plan Complete design effectiveness testing of internal controls and perform operational effectiveness testing of internal controls Assist in carrying out investigations into suspected irregular behaviour from time to time as required Support the business in reviewing their controls and any other project work as required from time to time Liaising with group internal control, group internal audit and with any external auditors 

What will you bring?

You will ideally have a financial background, preferably with audit experience A professional qualification in finance is desirable although not essential You will show strong analytical and people skills, with the ability to identify risks and the appropriate controls to mitigate the risk You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work closely with the business while at the same time maintaining independent though processes The ability to make constructive criticism of existing process and procedures whilst bearing in mind the materiality of any perceived deficiencies is an important skill
