Our Trust Vision is Working Together to drive excellence in care for our patients and communities. specialist acute nutrition support dietitian A great opportunity to develop within a Nutrition Support specialism, enhancing your dietetic skills within a busy acute hospital, is currently available at Portsmouth NHS Trust. The acute adult team of dietitians provide a service to all specialities including medicine for older people, oncology, general medicine and gastroenterology, orthopaedics, head & neck and oral surgery, urology, gynaecology and maternity. Due to a secondment covering maternity leave this fixed term post provides an opportunity to work as a band 6 dietitian, providing an excellent service to surgical wards (upper GI and colorectal), medical gastroenterology and within Trust-wide parenteral nutrition outreach service. There will be weekly dietetic-led nutrition support outpatient clinics, as well as key contribution to consultant-led MDT nutrition clinics. As a core member of the Nutrition Support Team, the post-holder will attend ward rounds and liaise closely with other team professionals including Clinical Nutrition Nurse Specialists, IV Nurse Specialists, Pharmacists and Biochemists. The team support regular professional development opportunities, and encourage service evaluation and audit to maintain good clinical governance and ensure the service continues to meet the changing needs of its users. There are regular Trust-wide and local teaching commitments and this team is committed to utilising new ways of working e.g. digital communication. Portsmouth Hospitals employs over 30 Dietitians. The dietetic department operate as one team serving acute and community sectors, liaising with two NHS Trusts. We are a friendly, supportive and enthusiastic department with great administrative support. We are committed to training B and C placement dietetic students.
