Would you like to work with cutting edge technology on a
range of projects supporting the UK’s Navy? 
BAE Systems Combat Systems team currently have a vacancy for experienced
ADA Software Engineers to join them at our site in either New Malden, Frimley
or Portsmouth (Broad Oak).

As an ADA Engineer, you will be responsible for the
upgrade and maintenance of the key Middleware Software that underpins the
performance, availability, and integrity of our Combat Management Systems. You
will also be responsible for developing new Open Architecture interfaces within
our Combat Management Systems to allow interfacing to external combat system equipment
and suppliers of capability through open standards.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to learn
about and develop the Middleware Software that provides the mechanisms for
managing and distributing the data within our Combat Management Systems and
therefore forms a critical part of our systems that are fitted to most of the RN
fleet of surface and sub-surface platforms. The role also provides an
opportunity to learn about Open Architecture technologies and develop new
interfaces that open up our Combat Management Systems to external providers of
capability.

 

Your main responsibilities as an ADA Software Engineer
will involve: 

Leading software design to ensure that the overall system
will behave according to its requirements in large & complex components

Writing high quality software according to coding
standards and maintain existing software by investigating issues and
identifying solutions

Writing software test schedules and use them to test the
system

Clearly document appropriate information, so that others
can understand the software and the system

Fully contribute to process improvement within the team to
ensure that the team always looks to improve how it works.

Liaise with other team members, teams and customers to
ensure key information is understood 

 

Your skills and qualifications:   

Learning new skills will be key to this role and training
will be provided, but relevant experience of the following disciplines is
essential:

Software
DesignProgramming
- Ada 95Software
Integration & testing 

Desirable:

Experience of either Middleware or Open Architecture (DDS)
technologies

Experience working on large software systems in the
defence, avionics, or related industry

 

 

What we are looking for in you:

You must have the ability to communicate both verbally and
in writing to management and peers. You will be motivated person able to rise
to challenge and work independently and within a wider team. You will be keen
to learn new skills and apply them.

 

 

Location: New Malden, Frimley
or Portsmouth (Broad Oak)

 

Salary: up to
£57,000 ( depending on skills & experience)
