Support Engineer (Linux/SQL)
Support; Linux; SQL; Python; AWS My client, a reputable technology company in the financial services sector, is looking to hire a Support Engineer to join its IT Support function in London. They are a client that provides a popular platform in the financial markets sector and you will be part of a small team that supports this platform and a suite of tools that accompany it. This is a highly customer-facing role that will see you performing both L1 & L2 support: L1 will mostly be around talking through users (over the phone) how to use their app/platform. L2 work will be more around Sys Admin - diagnosing/troubleshooting/managing tickets/upgrades/releases etc The main technologies they want this person to have is: Experience supporting a Linux environment SQL Desirable: Python AWS Financial Services experience They also want people interested in learning new technology that they use. If you haven't used any of the following, you will learn it here so it's a good place to be if you are eager to upskill in new technologies: Docker Git & GitLab Elastic stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) Confluence Jira Agile Workflow It's a company that has been growing for a number of years now and although still relatively small, hasn't been as affected as others throughout COVID and continues to remain busy. Hours are 9-6 (with an hour's lunch) and there is an OOO rota (1 in 6 weeks) although it is rare there are any issues. Currently, they are operating in a fluid working-from-home environment, but the long-term plan is for people to work 2 days a week in the office and 3 days a week from home (most probably starting from 2021).
