Veris has an opportunity available for a Town Planner to join our established team in the Whitsunday location. 3 – 6 + years recent / relevant experience in consulting environment. A Bachelor’s degree in urban/town planning or equivalent coupled with knowledge of relevant QLD and Federal legislation and regional QLD planning schemes.   Purpose   The purpose of this position is to achieve successful planning outcomes for our clients, with primary tasks including consultation and preparation of development applications for consideration and approval by relevant authorities; due diligence and advice on highest and best use of properties; and management of sub-consultants and stakeholders to support project delivery.   Key Responsibilities   The primary responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:   HSEQ   Advocate Veris Australia health and safety rules and regulations as they present on site and in general best practice. As an employee, you have a 'duty of care' responsibility for safety and health at the workplace for yourself and fellow employees ... report any hazards, injuries or ill health to your supervisor or employer; and cooperate with your employer when they require something to be done for safety and health at the workplace   Take an active role in continuous job improvement by reviewing new or current processes to achieve greater efficiencies   Adhere to applicable Company Policies and Procedures   Company Values   Perform all duties in accordance with the Our Way Vision and Mission statement, including the Performance, Accountability, Respect, Integrity and Sustainability values as outlined on the intranet and in the Veris Induction Information booklet.   Functions ·      Undertaking site analysis and research in relation to relevant town planning provisions, development opportunities and constraints ·      Preparing fee proposals and initial town planning advice to clients to a high standard ·      Providing advice directly to clients and allied consultants in relation to above ·      Coordinating and preparing high quality development applications ·      Managing small to medium sized development projects ·      Management of projects, maintaining efficiencies, timelines, budgets and specialist consultants ·      Liaising with clients, allied professional consultants and assessment officers ·      Ensuring the assigned scope of work is planned, scheduled and delivered in alignment with Project Plan ·      Ensuring work is carried out within the client’s guidelines and in adherence to internal guidelines ·      The ability to win new projects with a business development drive ·      Prioritising, monitoring and coordinating personal workloads to meet varying deadlines ·      Adhering to the Company’s safety processes and procedures ·      Working effectively in a diverse and large team environment ·      Maintaining and promoting the client focus of the company at all times ·      Any other duties as reasonably required . Qualifications and competencies   ·      3 – 6 + years recent / relevant experience in consulting environment ·      Bachelor’s degree in urban/town planning or equivalent ·      Extensive knowledge of relevant QLD and Federal legislation and regional QLD planning schemes ·      Demonstrated ability to work independently ·      Proven project and staff management skills ·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills ·      Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills ·      Current open driver’s license ·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work autonomously and availability to travel when required ·      The ability work as an effective team member and to provide planning advice to other team members to achieve specific and set objectives ·      Effective and successful delivery of client needs   Key Relationships   ·      Clients ·      Consultants ·      Section Leader Regional QLD ·      Whitsunday office team members ·      QLD planning team members
