Residential Controls business within the Schneider Electric group is a global
provider of devices used to control heating, hot water, humidity and cooling in
domestic and small commercial installations and is expanding into the world of
Smart Products. The business is investing heavily in new product design, market
expansion and further development of existing markets. In particular, it is
creating an exciting new range of Internet and cloud-connected smart products
to exploit the opportunities provided by the rapid growth of the Internet of
Things (IoT). Location: You will be working from home with occasional travels
to Plymouth and London when requested, less than 20% of your time travelling. You will be working closely with Schneider R&D teams
in the UK and across the world. Your mission: We are currently seeking a UI/UX developer to support in the
design of our user-facing mobile application and Webpage interfaces delivering best-in-class user experiences
within the Smart Home and Energy Management market. The role forms part of an end to end
delivery team working alongside other UI/UX designers, system architects, App
developers and test teams, and requires close collaboration with marketing,
product management and other business stakeholders. The role will focus
on delivering UI/UX content for Apps spanning different geographies, but with a
shared experience in mind under Schneider Electric’s Wiser brand. Understanding
the various requirements and constraints and distilling these into a clean and
simple consumer-facing user experience is a key aspect of the role, as well as
supporting the handover and ongoing support to the development team. We design connected home products and services, that include the
physical products that go in our customers’ homes, the apps they use, and
cloud-hosted software to make it all work well together. You will be working
with a cross-functional development team that consists of app developers, cloud
service developers, electronics design engineers, mechanical and product
designers and embedded software. Your key responsibilities To understand and distil complex use cases and features into simple and
user focussed designs and workflows To work closely with the product management team and wider business
stakeholders to understand and clarify market requirements, gain user feedback
and satisfy internal/external needs for our key user interfaces To provide App design collateral to the development in a timely fashion To help drive user testing as a means of validating system behaviours To review development outcomes to ensure the UI/UX is consistent and
aligned to the intended design. To support the translation of business and user needs into Design
content and workflows To work collaboratively with project team members to ensure the
solution meets business and user needs To maintain a customer focus at all times and drive rapid feedback
on product behaviours through user testing About you: Essential User interface and/or user experience design on
a commercially available mobile Application (a portfolio of design work will be
needed as part of the application process) Experience of working as part of a project team.
A team player, comfortable engaging proactively with teams across the business A professional attitude with a proven ability to
communicate technical concepts effectively and good personal skills A self-starter, comfortable with learning new
skills and with presenting creative solutions Desirable Experience with common App design and
configuration management tools e.g. Figma, Overflow, Zeplin, Sketch Experience and/or awareness of App development
lifecycles Designing for iOS, Android and mobile web page
content Experience working within a customer focused
development environment with a focus on user testing Interest in energy management or smart home
