Youth Advocate LSA - Woking - Education and Training - November 19th start 2020- - Youth

Ideal role for an Aspiring Clinical, Education or Forensic, Psychologist. Roles will also appeal to psychology graduates interested in Social, Youth and Criminal Justice. Looking at the Socio- Economic, class, race and faith factors that affect Youth and the approaches to Youth, is a crucial area.

This Youth Advocate - Woking LSA role in a specialist SEMH school for boys aged 9-16 that have excluded from their mainstream education. There will be a plethora of reasons why each boy is in the school, they will have suffered different traumas and all different contexts. It's a case of forming relationships with the boys, over time. There are no quick fixes here, if you have a utopian idea of being able to 'save' every student, you will not succeed. You may help plant ideas that you will not see the full, positive effects or end results from, know that they are there and will happen.

Understanding the dichotomies, diversity and cultural effects on Youth in an area like - Dorking, is vital to being able to have the stoic and durability nature to thrive in this role. Maintaining behaviour of the students, where possible and raising academic achievement, can be difficult.

Sincerity is vital in this Youth Advocate - Woking LSA role, you must know why you want to work with the boys. If you have had previous personal, family experience or support work experience as a graduate, this will give you a solid foundation.

Many of the students will be incredibly charismatic, your days will fly by quickly and you will not know where the day has gone. At the same token, in an environment where a lot of the student's Youth is incredibly vulnerable, you will have to be very patience and focus on the student's skills for life.
