What is it like working in Exeter?

Located on the river Exe, the city is best known for housing the Met Office, the main weather forecasting organisation for the United Kingdom, and is one of the largest employers in the area. Other notable employers include the University of Exeter, known for its great academic research, is also constantly employing talented individuals in the education sector. However, the city’s biggest industry is health and social care which accounts for 18 per cent of jobs.

Professional scientific and tech businesses are also increasingly prominent in the city, according to Tech City UK. There has been a 161 per cent growth in its digital tech employment between 2010 and 2014 alone, which is the highest of any UK tech cluster. On the other side, retail and hospitality is an important part of any location. Retail assistants, drivers and waiting staff can find many opportunities in the cathedral city.
