As a successful candidate, you will using your mechanical & electrical knowledge as well as your experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate, mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment, in a safe efficient timely and effective manner with minimum supervision allowing us to ensure that all of our sites remain operational for the benefits of our customers.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact, and you will be actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.

What you’ll be doing as an Electrical Technician
  • Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
  • This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
  • You will be expected to provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, gearboxes, screw /chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
  • Participate in a standby rota following the relevant training.
  • Complete License to operate. (Operate sites and learn the water treatment processes)
Base Location - Latton WTW - Cirencester - GL7 5QF.

38 hours per week, Monday-Friday. 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.

All PPE and tools, plus the provision of a van when on duty and call.

You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems or with NVQ or C&G level 3 in electrical engineering

Are you passionate about making a difference in the world? Look no further! The Borgen Project is an international organization that works at the political level to improve living conditions for people impacted by war, famine and poverty. With 20 years of experience in the advocacy space, The Borgen Project has worked to support the passage of numerous bills that have benefitted close to 500 million people in developing countries. Political Affairs Internship: The role focuses on making poverty a focus of U.S., Canadian and U.K. foreign policy. This is a part-time 12-hours per week, 12 week, unpaid remote internship. If your availability is limited, you can work ahead and complete the program in fewer weeks. Responsibilities will include: Leading public and political outreach in your state and district. Meeting with members of Congress/Government in your State/District/Constituency. Representing The Borgen Project at various business, political and community events. Assisting with fundraising. Create a personal fundraising campaign and meet targets. Mobilizing individuals to contact their members of Government in support of key poverty-reduction legislation. Speaking to groups, classes and organizations. Writing letters of support for key programs to political leaders, media and other groups. Experience: No prior experience is necessary, we’re looking for people who are passionate about fighting poverty and righting wrongs, regardless of your GPAs/background. Details: This is an unpaid internship, although college credit is available. Start Date: New programs begin every month, you choose the month you wish to start.
