Political Affairs Internship: The role focuses on making poverty a focus of U.S., Canadian and U.K. foreign policy. This is a part-time 12-hours per week, 12 week, unpaid remote internship. If your availability is limited, you can work ahead and complete the program in fewer weeks. Responsibilities will include: Leading public and political outreach in your state and district. Meeting with members of Congress/Government in your State/District/Constituency. Representing The Borgen Project at various business, political and community events. Assisting with fundraising. Create a personal fundraising campaign and meet targets. Mobilizing individuals to contact their members of Government in support of key poverty-reduction legislation. Speaking to groups, classes and organizations. Writing letters of support for key programs to political leaders, media and other groups. Experience: No prior experience is necessary, we’re looking for people who are passionate about fighting poverty and righting wrongs, regardless of your GPAs/background. Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Joiner to join our team, responsible for a variety of carpentry and joinery tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fabrication and assembly, with the ability to work with both hand and power tools. This role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to perform heavy lifting as needed. You will be involved in various projects, including roofing, construction painting, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

Duties

  • Fabricate and assemble wooden structures and fixtures according to specifications
  • Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively and safely
  • Carry out roofing tasks as required
  • Perform heavy lifting and manual handling of materials
  • Engage in construction painting to finish projects to a high standard
  • Assist with plumbing tasks as needed
  • Execute masonry work when required
  • Provide support for electrical installations under supervision
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment

Experience

  • Proven experience in joinery, carpentry, or related fields is essential
  • Familiarity with fabrication techniques and assembly processes is highly desirable
  • Competence in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively

The role is focused on inspiring, encouraging, and empowering young people to reach their full potential and become active members of the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Youth Mentor in delivering weekly youth activities and events.
  • Engage positively with young people to encourage participation and growth.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
Requirements:
  • Experience of working with young people aged 8–18.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A good understanding of the issues faced by young people in the community.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices.
  • Experience of working in a busy, dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (essential due to the nature of the role).
