This role is perfect for an experienced Design leader who wants to supercharge their career by growing and directing an energetic team in a fast-growing startup.

As the Head of Design you’ll build, lead and drive the Design function and will work alongside product, engineering and stakeholders throughout the business to develop a world-class customer experience.
Your role will build, manage and direct the work of a dynamic UX team, developing a customer-centric design strategy for the entire product line, and getting your hands dirty in detail work when needed.
You’ll report to the VP of Product.

Design, create and grow a high-performance Design function for the company, from user research to user experience to user interfaces to visual design. Hire brilliant people. Coach, mentor, grow and lead them. Evangelise user-centric and design-oriented techniques across the company. Guide and inspire your team to also take up this banner to drive design thinking through the company. Deliver - with the team - designs across all products and features. Collaborate with the product, business and engineering teams. Report to executives as needed, often driving those discussions. Create and institutionalise a user testing function, and foster a user testing mindset, specifically within Design and Product. Generate actionable data that drives decisions, and drive those learnings through the company. Be a driver of a customer-first vision within the business and own company-level artefacts and thinking to drive this vision. Create, maintain and socialise user journeys, design frameworks, voice of the customer, and other design processes across the company.
What you need to be great at
Creating, communicating and driving an end-to-end design vision and execution. Leading creatives. Tolerance and even an enthusiasm for ambiguity, and the hunger and creativity to own a design-first and data-backed vision. Personal stature, gravitas, a relationship builder, and excellent communication skills. Inspiring the company through delivery of quality and creativity, both individually and via the Design team. Understanding that Design is more than pushing pixels. A firm belief that Design can also transform business processes and all user touchpoints, however seemingly mundane.
Who we are looking for; track record must haves
5+ years Design leadership, designing complex business-driven products. Demonstrated success in owning strategy through delivery, balancing user needs, business goals and technical implementation to create a functional and beautiful product. Experienced in fostering the customer experience, end to end journey, UX and UI. Delivered complex projects with agile development teams, with a firm personal belief in ship, learn & iterate.
Experience that would be nice to have (but we’ll trade off if everything else fits)
Designed and delivered a mass-market B2B product or service via a bespoke tech (digital) platform. Experience with People Operations software and businesses. Experience with Product Management in a startup or scale up.
