A deeptech AV start-up are developing multiple platforms capable of navigating through challenging outdoor environments. This is a fast growing team aiming to nearly double in size this year. They already have funding and customers in place with exciting strategic partnerships to announce in the coming months.


They’re building multi-modal systems that integrate vision, LiDAR, radar, thermal, and language models into real-time AI for autonomous platforms.


This is deeply applied work, where advanced research is translated into operational capability. Key Responsibilities


  • Design and implement cutting-edge computer vision and sensor fusion algorithms across modalities (e.g., visual, thermal, radar, LiDAR).
  • Develop AI models suitable for edge and embedded platforms (e.g., Nvidia Jetson, Raspberry Pi).

Ideal Candidate


  • Demonstrable experience deploying solutions into defence, aerospace, or other regulated domains.
  • Deep understanding of computer vision techniques for detection and localisation.
  • Strong experience working with embedded or constrained compute platforms.
  • Proficiency in Python and major machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Experience with version control (Git), containerisation (Docker), and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS).
  • Experience with building and maintaining end-to-end ML pipelines.



Bonus experience


  • Experience in start-up or rapid R&D environment
  • Familiarity with MLOps and best practices in ML system reliability.

As a result of strong business growth, industry-leading product development in the biosensor business and a long-term commitment to high volume manufacturing in our Witney Centre of Excellence, we now have an opportunity for a Vision Engineer to join our Operations Engineering Group, working across all aspects of the manufacturing area of the business.
**The Role:**
The role of the Vision Engineer is to support our test strip and biosensor manufacturing processes. Provide an innovative approach to problem solving and stay abreast of current development in vision systems technology to ensure the most effective solutions are applied to problems. Collaborating with engineering colleagues across manufacturing and R+D, you will be involved in all aspects of vision systems projects from scoping the initial requirements, generating the proposal and specification through to the design, development and installation of the solutions across our automated manufacturing equipment.
The job holder will also be responsible for developing and promoting a Machine Vision strategy for the department. They will advise on the latest industry trends, methodologies, and emerging applications as well as lead on sourcing and supplier selection.
**About you:**
To be successful, you will need a formal qualification such as a HNC, HND or degree in a relevant Engineering/Scientific discipline. You will bring a breadth of experience and proven track record integrating Vision Systems and Automated inspection solutions, ideally using Cognex and Keyence, programming in C / C# and knowledge of code readers is required. Control system skills in either Siemens S7 or Allen Bradley PLC platforms would be beneficial but not a prerequisite. Experience with vision libraries and frameworks such as OpenCV or PyTorch would be a nice to have.
You will also need to be able to demonstrate a track record of accomplishing your objectives, working proactively, and managing your own time effectively. As we operate in a highly regulated industry, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to follow procedures and create accurate documents.
