CyberSecurity Operations Engineer

We are excited to be recruiting for a Operations Engineers role working for an industry-leading cybersecurity company based in London, providing the opportunity to work remotely. Already well-established within the cyber-security sector, they have experienced rapid sales in 2023 & 2024, which has opened up several career opportunities for cybersecurity professionals. Salary:  £35,000 - £50,000 per annum

Requirements for CyberSecurity Operations Engineer:

  • Ideally, you will have at least one year of commercial experience in a client-facing role with a cybersecurity focus- i.e. Consultant, Account Manager, Customer Support, Service Delivery etc.
  • li>This company values exceptional academics including a 2.1 or 1st class degree in Computer Science or CyberSecurity, or a closely related subject, from a top-ranked University
  • You achieved at least AAA at A Level or equivalent UCAS points
  • Strong knowledge within cybersecurity

Job Description:
As a Senior Analyst, you will oversee day-to-day operations within the Security Operations program and report to the Senior Manager of Security Operations. You will manage security operations personnel, policy enforcement, security awareness, and aid your team in achieving operational goals. You will lead initiatives focusing on Global Cyber Security (GCS) defensive measures and incident response. You and your team will support the daily security operations and Incident Response processes by aiding and responding in the event of a crisis or urgent situation to mitigate immediate and potential cyber threats. As needed, you and your team will use mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery approaches to maximize the organization's security.
Working within the Incident Response team and coordinating with other Cyber Operations teams to identify and report on security incidents as they occur and overseeing end-to-end remediation. Activities will include triaging security events, network and endpoint analysis, malware reverse engineering, threat hunting, vulnerability escalation, and resolving security incidents from detection to remediation. As part of the Security Operations team, you will create and implement standard operating procedures, playbooks, and processes to help streamline daily monitoring, investigations, and analysis research. The role works directly within GCS, the organization responsible for our Cybersecurity Operations & Incident Response program and critical services, ensuring our leadership makes informed risk-based decisions.

The Role

OXBO are delighted to be working with one of the UK's most well established IPPs to help them to add an experienced Operations Engineer to join their growing team. Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, this role is responsible for the Control of Operation and Maintenance Activities for all electrical plant and apparatus across the portfolio.


This role requires working with HV Contractors, Specialist High Voltage Electrical Engineers and EC&I Engineers across construction, commissioning and operations phases of the business.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all electrical plant and equipment runs efficiently and safely as scheduled by the trading team and maintained efficiently and safely in between times of commercial demand. Both operation and maintenance are to be carried out in accordance with H&S systems / Operational Policies and Procedures, including technical OEM operating literature and guidelines.
  • Focus on KPIs of the sites’ electrical balance of plant equipment, such as availability and efficiency, to identify when improvements to maintenance practices are needed. To implement appropriate electrical operations and maintenance procedures and practices, working with and developing the company’s information systems. This could, for example, mean standardization of maintenance related data capture and analysis to drive improvement or implementing additional preventive maintenance based on cost-benefit analysis.
  • Support, train, coach and mentor associated Operations Area Managers on electrical matters as necessary. Ensure all staff who access electrical equipment are aware of their health and safety responsibilities.
  • To assist in developing and implementing annual budgets for electrical spare parts and inventory for the operational sites across the group.
  • Be involved in the handover of newly built sites from the Construction Team or new acquisitions into Operations.


Requirements

  • Qualified in engineering, to a minimum of HNC level
  • Good technical knowledge with SAP capabilities of electrical systems up to 33kV.
  • Ability to implement changes to maintenance schedules, adapt to deliver most challenging / complex repairs and maintenance processes.
  • Sound people management skills that create both urgency and ownership within the team.
  • An understanding of ISO 9,001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Use of data, systems and processes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Able to communicate engineering matters to senior management and across disciplines.
  • Reasonable technical knowledge and experience of gas reciprocating engines, large battery storage systems and high voltage / power installations.
  • Work closely with and support other departments in the business: Mechanical Operations Team, Development, Construction, Finance, Procurement, Human Resources and HSQE.
  • Have dealt with DNOs and other contacts within the power generation and distribution industry.

The role

Responsible for the technical operation and management of wind farms/solar parks in the UK and Ireland. Working in a small team of Engineers you will be responsible for a number of wind farms/solar parks ensuring that our clients achieve maximum output. Working closely with other internal departments such as Health and Safety and Commercial Management Services you will carry out technical reporting, maintain contractual relationships with various service providers and ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.


The person

To apply, you must be educated to at least degree level in a relevant Engineering or Technical area. The successful candidate will be proactive and have excellent attention to detail as producing reports, data gathering and continuous monitoring of sites need to be accurate at all times. Ideally, you will also have relevant wind/solar industry experience however, this is not essential.

Job description

▪ Working with all parties to ensure that contractual obligations are fulfilled on a day to-day basis

▪ Liaison with technical services teams to ascertain the cause failures, response times and works undertaken

▪ Keeping all appropriate records of operations and maintenance activities on site

▪ Compiling and verifying accurate monthly operations reports for presentation to the customer (wind farm/solar owner)

▪ Developing systems and procedures to ensure asset optimisation

▪ Liaison with & reporting to clients and asset owners.


Duties also include, but are not limited to:

▪ Data gathering, distribution and proactive monitoring of operating sites in conjunction with other team members

▪ Daily Monitoring

▪ Performance, Downtime and Availability Analysis

▪ Prepare & issue Monthly Reports, help train others to compile these reports

▪ Follow up any performance issues

▪ Obtain all current service/maintenance records

▪ Maintain site activity records

▪ Monthly & annual availability performance and any subsequent claims

▪ Reacting to alarms from monitoring systems and reporting all concerns raised by proactive monitoring and the general operation/maintenance to both the owner and the maintainer as appropriate

▪ Work with site/field based staff including WPO Site Managers in the organisation of repairs/statutory inspections as appropriate

▪ Maintaining a calendar of servicing plans, weekly movements, statutory inspections etc.


Personal Skills / Attributes:

You must have excellent attention to detail as producing reports, data gathering and continuous monitoring of sites need to be accurate at all times. You’ll be working in a small team within a fast paced environment, so having a good sense of humour and being able to work in an organised manner is a key requirement. You will be encouraged to be proactive and participate in the development of best practices and continuous improvement which is a core part of the business.


Education and Qualifications:

You must be qualified to at least Degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering / Technical area. Travelling to sites may be required for this role so you will ideally hold a current, full drivers licence. A proven record of accomplishment and experience from within the renewable industry, especially wind power /solar energy will be highly advantageous, although not essential.
