The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead key engineering projects in hardware, software, and firmware development. You will drive projects from conception to delivery, ensuring they meet the agreed scope, budget, and quality standards.

With a strong background in defence or a related sector, you will have a deep understanding of ground-based Surveillance Target Acquisition & Reconnaissance (STAR) technology and user requirements. You will also be familiar with New Product Introduction (NPI) and gate processes, ensuring successful product maturation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate interdisciplinary project teams for successful project execution.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and milestones with technical and business stakeholders.

About You

Demonstrable experience in Technical Project Management within engineering disciplines (mechanical, electro-optics, software, systems architecture, etc.).

PMP / PRINCE II certification (highly desirable).

Proven track record in risk management, resource allocation, and budget control.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

Exceptional client-facing and internal communication abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.

Strong organisational skills, with a keen eye for detail and multitasking capabilities.

Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC level).

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
The Project Manager acts across all areas of the factory site, managing both new installations and enhancements to existing equipment. The role will lead as well as participate in multi-disciplinary teams.
The Project Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the projects, from technical specification, FAT, training, budgeting and contractor management through to project handover and will use project management tools and documents such as URS, Gantt Charts, and RACI.
The Project Manager is an all-encompassing role, including project engineering as well as project management. Whilst no need for formal qualification of practical skill sets, the post holder will certainly need a practical aptitude. It will require someone that is as happy in the factory environment as they are in the office. A collaborative approach is essential alongside a can-do attitude with no element of the project management process being outside of the post-holder's remit.
Your main focus :
+ Use technical skills and business acumen, participate in defining the scope, benefits, objectives, design, cost estimate, schedule and business case for engineering projects across all technical areas of the local business. Deliver the projects to completion.
+ Effectively translate stakeholders' and Project Team members' requirements to deliver projects through their full life cycle, ensuring targets are met
+ Take responsibility for the day-to-day preparation, management and deliverable completion of the engineering aspects of the project.
+ Ensure that design, fabrication and installation complies with the relevant Coty Design Guides, local engineering practices and project deliverables through robust concept and detailed design activities & reviews.
+ Apply change management processes and establish validation success criteria. Where validation is required, prepare a detailed programme and protocols, lead the execution of the validation exercises, prepare snagging lists and meet acceptance requirements for handover plans

The Project Manager's role

The incoming Project Manager will be responsible for delivering private sector developments across a variety of sectors. You will act as the key point of contact for stakeholders, coordinating project teams and ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met throughout.

Key responsibilities will include preparing project documentation, monitoring progress, managing risk, and chairing project meetings. The Project Manager will also support in mentoring junior team members and may be involved in new business opportunities where appropriate.



The Project Manager

  • Ideally 3+ years in a similar Project Manager role within a UK consultancy or client-side environment

  • Proven experience across residential or commercial developments

  • Degree qualified in a construction-related field (e.g. Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Construction Project Management)

  • Chartered or actively working towards RICS, APM, or CIOB accreditation

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

VolkerLaser repairs, strengthens and waterproofs concrete and steel structures, offering a tailored package of specialist works to clients across the UK. Our structural solutions include bridge deck waterproofing, expansion joints, concrete repair and cathodic protection works, steel repair and strengthening work, carbon fibre and temporary works, jacking and bearing replacement. We also provide specialist lightweight decking and access solutions, as well as being specialists in long bridge and cable refurbishment.

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our National Highways project, covering Area 4 works across Kent and Sussex.

Works will include, concrete repair, waterproofing, bridge deck works.

About you

  • Experience working on concrete repair projects on highways schemes
  • Proven technical and project management abilities
  • Strong organisational and management skills
  • Knowledge of the requirements and implementation of CDM regulations
  • Ability to produce Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets, and implement safe systems of work
  • Detailed knowledge of Safety, Quality and Environmental issues relevant to the project environment
  • Sufficient experience required in construction.
  • CITB SMTS or equivalent
  • CSCS
