My client is an established housing and supportprovider based in The West Midlands looking to recruit an experienced Housing Support Worker on a temporary on a permanent basis.

This provider has been established for over 17 years and specifically help vulnerable young asylum seekers and refugees aged between 13 and 30.

As the Housing Support Worker, you will be supporting a caseload of clients with housing and tenancy related needs.

Requirements:

It is essential for the successful candidate to have:

  • Experience of working with young people in any community work, education and training, housing and support, youth work, social work and other relevant / equivalent settings
  • Experience of working with UASC young people that have leave to remain and those that are seeking asylum and refugee status.
  • Update and organise and manage an online database for all residents that you are supporting.
  • Moderate knowledge base of the current and changing welfare and benefits system
  • Experience of report writing and updates for young people engagement
  • The capacity to work flexible hours to cover some weekends in order to ensure all of our young people have the opportunity to receive all aspects of support offered.
  • Experience of working with people with low level mental health needs
  • An understanding of the care system and young people that are UASC.

It is desirable for the successful candidate to have :

  • Experience and / or knowledge of working with young people at risk/victim of domestic violence.
  • Experience and/ or knowledge of offering family support.
  • Experience and/ or knowledge of emotional resilience skills.

You will be working both within a hostel setting, but also depending on the assignment, out in the community. Whether they need emotional support, help applying for housing benefits, or just someone to talk to, you will be there to support.

Required Experience
As this is a temporary role, and usually providing last-minute cover, you will be expected to hit the ground running. Previous experience working with vulnerable people within a similar setting will be essential.

Vacancy Brief:

    < i>Our client is seeking an Outreach Housing Support Worker, supporting young people at risk of homelessness on an initial 12-month fixed term contract with the potential for an extension or permanence.
  • This vacancy is full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

  • In your role as an Outreach Housing Support Worker, you will be required to provide high quality homelessness and housing options to young people, ensuring that their needs are met and their expectations managed.
