**Role Description:**

The Investment Banking Associate (the "Associate") is an intermediate level position responsible for providing strategic advisory services to clients. The Investment Banking Associate is expected to work with Senior Bankers across EMEA in business origination and execution across Citi's product set, with particular focus on episodic M&A transactions, strategic financing initiatives and access to the capital markets. We are seeking to hire a Vice President within the UK FIG Investment Banking team here at Citi (role has a focus on M&A, IPOs and private placements). We would ideally be looking for someone with prior investment banking experience (M&A, IPOs, private placements), ideally within UK FIG. A core part of the role will be IB coverage of Citi's UK bank, UK wealth and UK stock exchange clients, though there is scope to have a wider focus (e.g. encapsulating insurance in the UK or otherwise) should the applicant wish. The Investment Banking Analyst is responsible for origination and execution of Debt Capital Markets transactions for Corporates and Financial Institutions across Western Europe. The Analyst will participate in all client activities including marketing, structuring, execution and ongoing relationship management. You will be part of a dynamic team and will have great exposure to a number of teams including Syndicate, Investment Banking, Derivatives Solutions, Credit Sales and Trading, Corporate and Commercial Banking, Rating Advisory, Loans and Acquisition Financing across countries and industries.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Play a key role in the origination and execution of investment grade bonds and financing solutions for Corporates and Financial Institutions across Western Europe
+ Be involved in idea generation and the pitching process, helping to win new business and developing Citi's franchise by building and maintain client relationships at a junior level
+ Be involved in transaction structuring and tailoring of appropriate solutions for corporate and financial institution clients
+ Prepare and review presentation materials, including market updates, pricing updates and pitch materials
+ Manage internal processes and partner with Syndicate, Legal, Rating Advisory, Corporate and Investment Banking
+ Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
**Qualifications:**
+ Relevant investment banking experience required (ideally sector investment banking, capital markets, leveraged finance or derivative solutions)
+ Fluent English. French, German, Spanish or Italian speaker strongly preferred
+ Credit and corporate financing analytical skills
+ Demonstrate ability to interact with clients and internal stakeholders
+ Financial modelling skills preferred
+ Good judgement, maturity and poise to enable interaction at all levels
+ Thoughtful analytical skills; able to develop, clearly present and draw conclusions
+ Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
+ Excellent organizational skills; ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
+ Energetic, self-motivated and adaptable
**Education:**
+ Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience, or higher

**Responsibilities**
+ Financial analysis of companies in target, analysis will include maintaining and updating comparable company trading analysis and transaction analysis
+ Assume responsibility for monitoring targeted clients in terms of news and announcements
+ Support on transactions across the banks products. Such support may include maintaining financial models, coordinating due diligence, managing working group lists and timetables
+ Research on companies and industries and support on client initiatives including generating and developing new ideas to present
+ Formulate and develop client pitch-books and analysis in addition to supporting other bankers within the team
+ Build direct cross functional relationships with bankers in product and regional business units
**What we are looking for**
+ Strong mathematical and analytical skills as well as proficient level of MS Excel and PowerPoint
+ Meticulous attention to detail, diligence and conscientiousness
+ Excellent interpersonal communication skills
+ Capable of working effectively both independently and with multiple teams/individuals
+ Fluency in English is essential and a second European language a plus
+ Educated to degree level (preferably in a numerical discipline such as economics or finance)
