The role will require working on secure Government sites up to 5 days per week. Your Role and Responsibilities.

  • Provide Network Engineering skills and produce solution designs as part of the senior delivery team

  • Work with partner delivery teams to design and implement modern, scalable Network using a range of new and emerging technologies including automation

  • Lead on all Network management and acceptance aspects including setting standards and providing your deep technical expertise to Leidos programme teams

  • Utilise the concepts and principles of verification and validation to produce relevant Network Designs across multiple subject areas

  • Collaborate with customers on all aspects of Network management including the assurance and integration of Network services to meet the needs of multiple lines of business

  • Recognise and exploit business opportunity by leveraging engineering and design best practice

  • Communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context

  • Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience of data centre and campus networking technologies: Cisco (routing, switching, firewalls), Fortinet (Fortigate and FortiSwitch), Palo Alto (Next Gen firewalls), Juniper SRX, F5 (global and local load balancing) and Encryption.

  • Strong understanding of routing protocols (static and dynamic) in data centre, campus and wide area networks.

  • Experience and knowledge of networking – L2/3 networking and routing

  • Strong experience of operating high availability data centre networks supporting critical workloads on Windows, Linux and SAN including technical refresh of large numbers of devices;

  • Strong experience of monitoring and management tooling including SolarWinds.

  • Have good general knowledge of Windows Server Environments, (including OS build, AD, DNS, DHCP and GPO) and Linux (RHEL) data centre server infrastructures.

  • Have excellent analysis and problem solving skills, taking ownership of complex incidents ensuring these are resolved to the satisfaction of the customer.

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This is a hybrid position is offering the opportunity to support one of the UK’s most dynamic network environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day support and operational management of a diverse enterprise network infrastructure, which includes Fortinet SD-WAN and FortiSASE technologies, Cisco and Aruba switches, and Meraki wireless deployments. This is not a project-based deployment role, but one that centres around troubleshooting, maintaining and enhancing a large, established network that is critical to daily operations across the business. The estate spans a broad range of sites and services, requiring a methodical and proactive approach to monitoring and performance optimisation.

The role demands a strong understanding of modern enterprise network environments and proven experience in delivering consistent network support across multiple platforms. You will be working extensively with network monitoring tools such as LibreNMS and HP IMC to maintain visibility, identify potential issues early, and respond to incidents effectively. You will be responsible for the health and performance of IPsec tunnels, routing and switching configurations, and access control policies, while also contributing to capacity planning and continuous service improvement.

In addition to technical support, you will also collaborate closely with third-party providers, external vendors, and internal stakeholders across IT and engineering functions. You will ensure that service requests and incident tickets are properly managed through the ServiceNow platform and that all work is clearly documented using the NetBox inventory management system. Your ability to manage priorities effectively, maintain detailed records, and uphold strong communication lines with both technical and non-technical audiences will be critical to success in this role.

Candidates must have significant hands-on experience with Fortinet’s SD-WAN technology and associated platforms such as FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiAuthenticator.
