Role overview:
As part of this role, you’ll be responsible for:
● Driving your company van and managing your own day effectively (as you’ll work mainly on your own).
● Testing, diagnosing and fixing white goods in our customers’ homes.
● Providing and implementing technical knowledge across a range of white goods appliances.
● Building up our reputation as a home services expert.
A lot of the job comes down to skill and efficiency, but building a rapport with customers is just as important. They will welcome you into their homes, and it’ll be down to you to get their products back on track and put their minds at ease.
Main Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in domestic appliance repairs
- Full UK Driving License (no more than 6 points)
- Strong communication & customer service abilities.
Desirable skills:
- Refrigeration Regas trained
Gas safe qualifications
You will need:
● Proven experience in White Goods repairs.
● Full UK/EU driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
● Ideally (but not essential) ACS Qualifications (or equivalent) in Essential Gas Safety Domestic (CCN1), Gas Cookers and Ranges (CKR1).

Our client is seeking to recruit a Mechanically Biased Maintenance Technician to work for our client in the County Durham area. The role centres on a continental shift pattern, 12 hour shifts days and nights, 3 on 3 off.
This role will involve delivering planned and reactive maintenance within a high-volume manufacturing facility. The role encompasses anything from delivering line-based maintenance, to facilities maintenance, to working in the tool room undertaking up keep and repairs.
To be considered for this role applicants have to have served an apprenticeship within a mechanical discipline.
THE ROLE
- Delivering planned and reactive maintenance on automated production lines
- Mechanical fault finding
- Completing PPM’s and updating maintenance systems
- Asset strip down maintenance and repair
- Delivering maintenance within hydraulic systems, DC motors, gear boxes, vacuum pumps and ideally servo motors
- Ensuring the completion of basic facilities maintenance to maintain the upkeep of the plant
- Working to ensure maximum production up-time within a 24/7 production facility
- Working as part of a maintenance team, each shift comprised of 1 Electrical, 1 Mechanical and 1 multi-skilled Technician
- Time served within a Mechanical Discipline
- Tool room knowledge - ability to deliver basic welding and manual machining to undertake running repairs and replace machine guards
- Any knowledge of PLC’s, ABB Robotics, AC Inverters and Servo Motors would be a nice to have for the role

We are currently working with a client based in Lydney, who are looking for a skilled mechanical fitter that can provide preventative maintenance and help with mechanical breakdown service on machinery on-site.
This role operates on a day rota pattern, shifts may range from 8 to 12 hours, based on what is needed on-site.
Working hours are Monday to Friday however you will be expected to work 1 weekend, every 5 weeks.
You will also be on a call rota 1 week in 5, for breakdown support during the evening or night.
Preventative maintenance will include:
- Transmission belt inspection, tensioning and changing,
- Inspection of bearings and couplings, alignment checking.
- Installation and maintenance of rotating equipment including pumps, refiners, paper machine rolls, agitators, fans.
- Removal and fitting of bearings and couplings.
- Repair and maintenance of all types of seals and packing’s.
- Turning, milling and grinding of components.
- General fabrication work.
- Rigging and lifting of heavy equipment.
- Fault finding on, and repair of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.
- Repair of compressors and other ancillary equipment.
Role Responsibilities – Mechanical Maintenance Technician
- To ensure safety standards are maintained and safe working procedures are adhered to.
- Reporting any accidents and near misses, to improve the Occupational Safety of personnel
- Diagnosing and repairing equipment breakdowns.
- Identifying failure modes of plant equipment and returning the equipment to operation safely and in a reasonable timescale.
- To follow up all shift reports, SAP and other inspection reports detailing corrective actions
- Identifying failure modes of mechanical equipment and making recommendations to prevent further failures.
- Locating spare parts using the maintenance management system. Collecting and returning spares to stores.
- To work under the rules of the Electrical and Mechanical safety systems, Issuing certificates / permits as and when required.
- To assess all engineering plant changes using the Management of Change (MOC) system.
- Obtaining maintenance schedules from the maintenance management system (SAP) and feeding back work carried out. Work arising to be recorded using notifications.
- To liaise with engineering day teams to identify and resolve long-term engineering issues.
An ideal candidate for the Mechanical Maintenance role would have:
