As Mechanical Feld Service Engineer with a background in procession engineering you will join a global strong maintenance team, but work independently to representing the company at Customer premises.

As a mechanically bias field service engineer this role supports the field service team. As a mechanical field based engineer this precision engineering role covers installation, service, repair, and calibration of the company’s

precision measuring equipment. 

REMOTE base   - Coverage  - customer base in the WEST Midlands / OR WEST YORKSHIRE  of the UK (to be discussed)

Ideal location to be based   - WEST midlands or Yorkshire

Key Responsibilities

Visit customer sites to: 

  • Install precision measuring equipment. 
  • li>Complete service and calibration work.  li>Undertake trouble shooting including fault-finding, diagnosis and rectification.
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are properly maintained and kept in a clean and tidy condition.
  • To apply the Health, Safety & Environmental Policy

Qualifications and Skills

  • Background in Mechanical Engineering / maintenance or similar
  • Experience of fault finding on mechanical/electrical systems. 
  • li>Background in precision engineering e.g. with tools and equipment like

CMM, Profilometer or Micrometers & Calipers or Optical Comparators or Air Gauges or CNC Machines or Diamond Turning Machines or Electrical Discharge Machines or Autocollimator or Inclinometers or Vibration Isolation Tables or sensor systems (pressure temp etc) or digital scale systems, optical measuring systems, hardness testing machines, coordinate measuring machines, vision measuring systems, fixture systems  - just for example

    li>Be able to demonstrate compliance with relevant Health & Safety legislation.
  • Good IT skills. 
  • li>Full valid driving license. ESSENTIAL  - (field based role with car) < i>Strong time management skills.  li>Have good interpersonal skills.

Tosca is seeking a Field Service Engineer, responsible to keep the machines in an optimal condition and assist the different sites in handling breakdowns and resolving them.


You are based in the UK from where you will provide service throughout the country. On occasion you’ll also travel to other sites in Europe. Responsibilities


Proactive Maintenance approach

  • You draw up a preventive maintenance plan in consultation with the engineering manager.
  • You plan maintenance and repair work in consultation with the local operations team.
  • You are responsible for preventive & reactive maintenance of equipment in the UK.
  • You report on work performed, on periodic maintenance and used parts.
  • You are responsible for risk assessment and stock management of critical parts and tools, in consultation with the engineering manager and local operations team.


Project Management Support

  • You discuss improvement and process automation proposals with operations team and engineering manager.
  • You support project management with implementation of new machines and start-up new service centers.


Promote Health&Safety Compliance

  • You work and promote Health and safety compliance in accordance with company policies, Safe Systems of Work and local legislation.
  • You demonstrate high standards of work practices and safety conscious behavior.
  • You train and monitor staff in standard machine operating procedures and safe work practices.
  • Awareness of site security, hygiene & PPE requirements, and awareness of site certification i.e. Certificates and standards.


Train, standardize and upgrade skills of the operations Team

  • You identify development and machine training needs within the team.
  • You operate within standard operating procedures.
  • You identify problems and improving efficiency on a daily basis.
  • You attend training courses necessary in relation to new machinery requirements.
  • You ensure the appropriate cleaning schedules and processes are completed on the machinery to satisfactory standards.
  • You maintain Standard Operating Procedures.
  • You assist in training of new starters.


Education and experience

  • Knowledge of electricity, mechanics and basic software skills
  • A bachelor’s degree in Electromechanics or certified engineer
  • 5+ years’ experience in the field
  • Technical ability with electrical systems, mechanical systems (including pumps & steam systems), and general construction methods.
  • Fluent in English.
