The Quality Systems Engineer will:
  • Maintain and lead structured quality processes, adapting them to meet specific customer requirements.
  • Conduct internal audits, identify trends, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support the Quality Engineer to ensure compliance with BS EN ISO 9001:2015.
  • Report on key production KPIs (e.g. scrap percentages, on-time delivery) and present findings in meetings.
  • Lead external compliance and certification audits, including customer-led assessments.
 
The Quality Systems Engineer will have:
  • Strong, process-driven mindset with the ability to lead and adapt quality systems.
  • Collaborative team player, confident working alongside engineering and quality teams.
  • Experience with internal auditing and understanding of quality improvement tools (e.g., 8D, Root Cause Analysis).
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present issues sensitively and liaise with customers.
  • Working knowledge of Control Plans and continuous improvement documentation.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Quality Engineer to join a thriving manufacturing business based in Birmingham. This full-time role is ideal for someone passionate about driving quality improvements and supporting both internal teams and external customers.

The Role:
You'll play a key role in supporting quality concerns, customer returns, and continuous improvement, as well as contributing to new product development through APQP activities. Working closely with various departments, you'll ensure the business remains compliant with IATF16949 and delivers the highest level of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage customer quality reporting, metrics, and portal updates
  • Liaise with customers and internal teams to resolve quality concerns (including 8D reporting)
  • Handle customer returns (0km and warranty), including investigation and close-out
  • Create and update production control plans and related documentation
  • Compile, submit, and gain approval of PPAPs for new and modified products
  • Perform product/process audits in line with the IATF audit schedule
  • Support product and process modifications, ensuring documentation compliance
  • Work with Engineering and other departments to analyse returns and implement improvements
  • Support customer visits on-site and off-site (UK and international travel may be required)

What We're Looking For:
  • Strong understanding of 8D concern resolution and the 5 Core Tools
  • Hands-on approach to quality issues and improvements
  • Experience working within an IATF16949-certified environment

  • Background in manufacturing (ideally machining, assembly, and testing)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable communicating at all levels

What You'll Be Doing
