Due to ongoing expansion, our client is seeking an experienced Engineer to join their team. This is a varied position involving installation, maintenance, and fault-finding across a range of security systems.

  • Covering Surrey and surrounding areas
  • li>Monday – Friday, 8am – 5:30pm
  • li>Out-of-Hours callouts: 1 week in 5

Job Description:

  • Installation of Intruder Alarms, Fire Alarms, CCTV, and Access Control Systems.
  • Plan work schedules proactively to minimise disruption and complete tasks within the shortest possible timeframe.
  • Maintain accurate records of van stock and client asset inventories.
  • Anticipate potential breakdowns and prepare effectively to achieve a first-time fix.
  • Provide customers with informed recommendations on new products and services that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Manage tasks efficiently and manage own workload.
  • Provide effective remote support to customers and colleagues over the phone.

Person Specification:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in the industry is required.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence required.
  • Sound understanding of Health and Safety practices, with the ability to adhere to all relevant regulations.
  • In-depth understanding of both monitored and non-monitored Intruder Alarm, Fire Alarm, and CCTV systems.
  • Strong knowledge of British Standards and compliance with NSI (NACOSS) and BAFE regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Committed to supporting and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

The Systems Engineer, working collaboratively with other engineering managers, is responsible for ensuring the customer needs are understood and met, and at a systems level manages aspects such as system risk, validation and verification circles, and compliance to regulatory needs.

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering

  • Logical/pragmatic thinker with strong critical thinking and prioritisation skills

  • Confident communicator, both written and verbal, with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrable experience using MATLAB and Simulink

What You'll Do:

As a Systems Engineer, you will play a key role across a diverse range of projects, taking responsibility for the definition and delivery of complex systems. Your role will span the entire systems development lifecycle, from planning and executing system design and development, to integration, testing, and customer acceptance. You will be involved in:
  • Design Activities: Undertaking design tasks across all stages of the development lifecycle.

  • Documentation Skills: Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.
  • Technical Knowledge: Awareness of electronics and software/firmware design principles.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for regular updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Agile/Spiral Development: Experience with agile or spiral development lifecycles (desirable).
  • Security Clearance: Ability to attain DV or SC UK security clearance.
  • Driving License: A full UK driving license is required.
