Job Description

Role: Stakeholder Engagement Lead

Rate of pay: £350 per day

Contract term: 10 months

Location: The role can be undertaken remotely within the UK with occasional travel to London required for events and team activities

About Us

We are responsible for the Retail Energy Code — a comprehensive set of governance arrangements that energy organisations in the UK must follow. But our role goes beyond simply managing the Code.

We’re committed to driving effectiveness and efficiency in the retail energy market, helping organisations deliver excellence that ultimately benefits consumers.

A key part of our work is engaging with a wide range of stakeholders to raise awareness of our activities and better understand their needs, priorities, and challenges. These insights shape our business strategy and help us build trust and credibility across the sector.

That’s where you come in.

Perform – We are a trusted expert who delivers and enables high-quality code management services.

Protect – We safeguard consumers’ interests and data through secure, digital services designed specifically for the retail energy market.

Progress – We drive innovation and develop practical solutions to support an effective and future-ready retail energy market.

The Role

We’re looking for a motivated and experienced stakeholder engagement professional with strong communication and relationship-building skills to support the delivery of our stakeholder engagement strategy.

In this role, you’ll join the Corporate Affairs Team and report to the Stakeholder Engagement Manager. You’ll collaborate with internal teams across the business and engage with a wide range of external stakeholders, including energy suppliers, networks, metering agents, consumer organisations, and regulatory bodies.

The core purpose of this role is to be an enabler to help build and maintain strong relationships with our stakeholders by supporting meaningful, two-way communication. You’ll contribute to identifying opportunities to improve engagement, helping ensure we understand and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations.

You’ll provide engagement support across different teams and business priorities, helping to raise awareness of RECCo and the Retail Energy Code while strengthening our reputation and stakeholder trust.

Key Responsibilities

The contractor will work closely with the Stakeholder Engagement Manager to provide day-to-day support across a range of engagement activities. This short-term role is designed to enhance capacity and ensure continuity during a busy delivery period. Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the delivery of RECCo’s stakeholder engagement activities by coordinating outreach, relationship management, and engagement events.
  • Actively engage with RECCo stakeholders to build strong, trusted relationships—gathering insights, feedback, and understanding stakeholder sentiment and perceptions through regular two-way dialogue.
  • Collaborate across the business to develop, maintain and deliver strategic engagement plans, including stakeholder mapping, engagement objectives, and communication strategies.
  • Provide expert support to RECCo employees at industry and stakeholder events, preparing briefing notes, key messages, and presentations as needed
  • Capture stakeholder feedback through developing and managing surveys, focus groups, and one-to-one conversations; analyse insights to inform future engagement activity
  • Work with the Corporate Affairs team to create targeted engagement and communications plans aligned to business priorities.
  • Maintain and evolve RECCo’s stakeholder relationship management (SRM) system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of stakeholder interactions, needs, and contact details.
  • Monitor developments in the energy sector to broaden our understanding of evolving stakeholder needs.
  • Share actionable stakeholder insights with relevant internal teams to inform service improvements and shape RECCo’s future work plan.
  • Support and evolve monthly Corporate Affairs MI reporting to the Executive team and contribute to Board reporting as required.
  • Participate in relevant meetings (e.g. joint RECCo and REC Code Manager stakeholder groups), supporting follow-up actions and combined reporting.
  • Provide expert support to the Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Director of Corporate Affairs, and RECCo’s Executive Team as required.

About You

  • Confident and effective communicator with experience supporting the management of stakeholder relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible content using appropriate formats and tone
  • Organised and analytical, with experience contributing to project delivery, planning, and coordination
  • Flexible and adaptable team player, able to respond to evolving priorities and work independently when needed
  • Awareness of the energy industry and its key stakeholders. Experience within utilities or related sectors would be beneficial.
  • A proactive and creative thinker who enjoys contributing ideas and supporting their implementation

Our Commitment

At RECCo, we foster a culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion. We want every team member to feel valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic self to work each day—regardless of age, gender identity, ethnicity, religion, disability status, or any other aspect of who you are.
