Systems Engineer

System (Integration) Control Engineer

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering

  • Basic understanding and capability to use C# code for testing routines

Let us introduce the role

AWE have exciting new opportunities for Systems Engineers within our Warhead (WH) Containers team, with experience in requirements definition, functional and physical architectural design, model-based systems engineering and verification and validation .

As a member of the Warhead containers team, successful candidates will be required to support projects developing, procuring, and testing new designs in support both current and future programmes that support the UK's Nuclear Weapon Programme.

The team works on multiple projects from the concept phase, into service and through to disposal and are responsible for:

  • Requirements generation and management in DOORS.

  • Systems Architecture development on Enterprise Architect.

  • Optioneering Studies to support product development.

  • Identify and manage interfaces to support the development of Concept of Operations.

  • Carrying out Verification and Validation activities (including both onsite and offsite trials management).

  • Stakeholder Engagement with other (international and domestic) government agencies and regulators.

  • The development and delivery of viable technical solutions that meet customer requirements.

  • Leading / Supporting project reviews for internal programmes and external contracts, including providing written reports and verbal briefs to management and stakeholders.

Who are we looking for?

We do need you to have the following:

  • A STEM degree or a related subject. Postgraduate degrees such as MEng, MSc, and/or PhD would also be welcome.

  • An understanding and experience of Systems Engineering basic principles and how to apply these principles at various stages of a design lifecycle.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have some of the following:

  • Have experience operating Systems Engineering software packages such as DOORS or Enterprise Architect.

  • Communicating and translating complex technical problems and requirements to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Either obtained or working towards professional accreditation from a professionally recognised body.

  • A willingness to travel domestically and/or overseas for up to 4 weeks per year to support collaboration or trial activities.

  • An adaptable and flexible approach to solve complex issues.

Basic Qualifications

Our UniQue Team is growing and in our team, we are looking for a Systems Engineer to join our team!

What will you be bringing to the team?

  • Assist the Core Section Head in developing technical solutions for maritime IT operations, creating troubleshooting SOPs, and coordinating hardware refresh and upgrades.
  • Support the planning and coordination of shipboard IT surveys prior to scheduled system installations.
  • Provide system administration for assigned hardware and software.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain all technical and service-related documentation, including system configurations and supporting infrastructure.
  • Ensure timely reporting of configuration control data to the Core Section Head.
  • Deliver remote technical support during system handovers for vessels across various international operations.
  • Maintain close collaboration with technicians and engineers within the organization.

Belcan are currently recruiting for a Control Systems Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for a large project within the Utilities industry.

The client is looking to hire on a Permanent basis for this position, which will involve working on the development and maintenance of the Control Systems.

The role has a strong focus on engineering delivery and quality. Amongst other things the successful
candidate will be comfortable working in an Engineering Service environment and will be able to balance
the technical responsibilities inherent within the role, with the commercial and project timescale
associated with delivery.

For this role, we are looking for applicants to ideally have experience within;

Customer

  • Interacts with customer technical focal points as required.
  • Be able to interact well with both internal and external stakeholders and communicate technical issues; propose solutions challenges etc.
  • Supporting team leader to define approach, timescales and hours associated with tasks.
  • Responsible for tasks which may be adhoc or more difficult.

Delivery

  • On-Time, On-Budget delivery in accordance with customer quotations
  • Adherence to the Belcan QMS

P&L

  • Identify cost savings (internal & customer)
  • Identify change
  • Understands and manages change and can articulate its occurrence.

Resource/Capability

  • Responsible for technical quality of personal output
  • Helps support other team members as directed by Team Leader/Management
  • Helps support Team Leader/Management with aspects such as capability development, QMS related quality issues etc

Global Interaction

  • Supports local and global collaboration across the Belcan organisation.

Toolsets

  • Experience with PLC's - Allen-Bradley preferred (or Siemens, GE Fanuc)
  • PLC and protocol simulators / Modbus simulators
  • PLC programming tools - RSLogix / GE Fanuc / Siemens
  • SCADA - Ignition preferred (or Intouch / Cimplicity / FactoryTalk / WinCC)

Technical Skills

  • Control System Design - DCS/SCADA/PLC systems
  • Industrial Protocols - OPCUA, MQTT, Modbus
  • Control System Hardware Design
  • Technical Document Development (User Specifications, Test Procedures, Full Lifecycle Project Documentation)

Preferred Experience

As Security Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for the service, maintenance, and fault-finding of security systems across commercial sites. The ideal candidate will be client-focused with a can-do attitude, capable of resolving issues effectively and leaving sites with high client satisfaction.

THE SECURITY SYSTEMS ENGINEER ROLE:
