HR Business Partner Job Description

HR business partners are experienced HR professionals who work closely with organisations’ senior leaders in order to develop an HR agenda that supports the aim of the organisation. An HR business partner may be sitting on the board of directors or will work closely with the board of directors and C-suite. These HR business partners are usually the most senior HR professionals within the department. In order to become an HR business partner, applicants must have strong communication skills as they will need to communicate the financial value and future worth of HR policies to the company’s leadership, as well as communicating high-level decisions to other people in the company.

HR Business Partner Job Requirement

To become a HR business partner, the applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources (or equivalent fields like Business and Psychology). Furthermore, employers may ask for appropriate people management qualifications such as the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) certification. It isn’t possible to become an HR business partner immediately. Candidates applying for the position must have at least 2 years of experience in a junior HR position, preferably as junior support personnel in the HR business partner department. Candidates will need to have skills in employee relations, organisational diagnosis, performance management as well as state employment laws.
