Recruitment Consultant Job Information
Recruitment consultants have the responsibility of attracting candidates for jobs and matching them to positions with client companies. Consultants will need to build positive relationships with clients and potential employees in order to gain a better understanding of a clients’ recruitment needs and requirements. Bringing in candidates is usually done by using a range of media such as facebook, twitter, or a job search website such as WhatJobs. Networking and headhunting require strong communication skills as well as confidence. Similar to sales, those who work in recruitment will have their basic salary boosted in the forms of performance-related bonuses or even commissions. A large part of the role involves screening and interviewing hundreds of candidates before matching the perfect candidate with the right company.

There are no specific qualifications needed in order to become a recruitment consultant, but a degree is preferred. Employers usually value sales skills and abilities as well as determination more than the actual degree earned. However, if applicants do apply to an agency that specialises in a specific sector to the applicant's degree subject, chances of getting hired will increase significantly. If an applicant does not have a degree, entry is entirely possible as long as the applicant has relevant work experience in the field.
