Job Duties
The
Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for the document imaging,
review, and indexing processes of financial aid records and files to
ensure that all student files are maintained in accordance with
federal and state guidelines. In addition, the Financial Aid
Specialist is responsible for supporting prospective and continuing
students by assisting with reviewing and evaluating financial aid
eligibility and providing efficient and timely delivery of accurate
information and services.
- Troubleshoots document imaging issues
- Serves as liaison between the Financial Aid
Office and the software vendor.
provides information to students and/or parents regarding financial aid programs, application processes, award packaging, and satisfactory academic progress. - Reviews applications and other documents utilizing StudentForms to determine financial aid eligibility based on the Department of Education’s eligibility requirements.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for customer service intake,
- Works with supervisors and staff to communicate applicable federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures.
- Provides information to students and/or parents regarding
financial aid programs, application processes, award packaging, and
satisfactory academic progress.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4 years of financial aid counseling experience
- Customer service experience
- Ability to learn and use an automated financial aid system.
- Ability to make independent decisions and sound judgment.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, with a high degree of accuracy, courtesy, timeliness, and structure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, patience, and commitment to customer service
- Knowledge of electronic funds transfer
